    3. Hi Igor, From what I see; Knight Order of Michael the brave (romania) Knight legion d'honneur (france) Knight Order of the star of romania (romania) Order of St anne 3rd class (russia) and so on.....
    4. Let me hear when you have posted your images in that thread!! Kind regards Jacky en ja ik heb je pb'tje gezien
    5. Yeah, would love that A thread is set up soon, so.... If you please to do ..... But this story makes my mouth goes watering Would like to go there too.... Yet not for the gardens Thanks for the hints....
    6. thanks for your and back for your pictures!! Do you have more? Or have you already posted your collection? Kind regards Jacky
    7. Even Bill Simpson shows one group with a St George Cross on his site... It's a St George Cross 3rd class and yes a long surviving soldier as he did get the knights of the 3 national orders with swords, and the officer L" with swords.. Kind regards.
    8. Yes, Quite a high price, Concerning its originality... It could be. From this picture, you can see that the suspension ring is larger than the cross this picture shows a smooth back, nice lettering and no struck rims of stamping... So all in all, it seems quite original. however the other 2 medals are quite cheap to find and obtain. the worth should come out of the tablemedal and the auschwitz cross... No name, no picture, only 4 boxes.... I would pass on it
    9. Dear Gents, That's true, Burke's peerage does mention his africastar, so the army or who ever made a mistake on the site I mentioned before.... Here the link to burke's peerage... Burke's Peerage
    10. see this; Prince phillip, duke of edinburgh all his awards are listed here both foreign as national. concerning his WW2 medals; MID 39/45 star Atlantic star Italy star Burma star (with Pacific clasp) War medal Order of St George & St Constantine 4th class with swords Greek Military Cross French Croix de Guerre with palm
    11. Now the civil decortions. left to right Gold medal Silver medal Bronze medal for courage, devotion and philantrophy Cross 1st class.
    12. Hendrik, thanks for giving this his own thread.. The story got too long for the previous thread!! To stay in the story for this thread, more long service awards, now for labour... Quite bad scans, but i found those also in the box for the other decorations. as one can't continue wearing the lower grade when awarded the higher grade, I omitted them from the scan. But still made a scan of it *left to right* Special decoration 2nd class labour decoration 2nd class
    13. oh oh oh Always shuffles things when its hot outside... My mind seems to degrade with the temperature rising Excuses for that, and yes, nice medalgroup there!!! Thanks for all your help
    14. Kevin, Wonderfull one, 7 stars and 1 black bar. Black bar for those who didn't survive their imprisonnement and each star stands for a half year of imprisonnement. So this person died after 3,5 years in a camp... But you said you have a medal in a medal group... Could you take a picture of that group and show it to us??? Kind regards
    15. Jummy, Very nice pictures, thanks for posting Is an leopold II article 4 medal hard to come by?? I thought they should be awarded then for campaign's in Africa as Belgium itself wasn't in war.......???
    16. Boys .... All of you who had been at the MEDEC meeting saturday.... What kind of treasures have you dug up?? Would like to hear and see Greetzz
    17. By the way, Nice groups of both of you!!! I like the Article 4. Mine has a shorter ribbon ?nd a silver palm A ( to compromise for it's shorter ribbon) The Knight leopld II with palm ( ?nd Diamonds) and its counter part, the croix d'guerre with gold palm (?nd diamonds & Gems) is very very nice to see... I see he also was entitled to the IJzer-Cross... Do you have one spare for me ?? to both of you
    18. The fact is; the difference in the lions is just to denote the level in which they have been mentioned in the order of the day. Where as the palms just denote the number of mentioned in despatches at army level. Jacky
    19. oh "luxury" what an understatement What does it's ribbon bear?? Pure gold lions?? Maybe a picture of its ribbon?? That would be very appreciated!!!
    20. Thanks for your answer, both for the shop where to go, and for the answer. I sometimes see people being decorated ?nd wearing their decoration... Then Dutchies aren't that miserly.... I saw Soeur emanuelle being awarded the grandofficer of the crown, heard of the tennis-godesses being awarded the grandcross of the crown.. And yet.. Simple men still have to buy their national orders, or did King Albert II ask for the cost-price of it?? Us, Dutchies, we receive a certificate ?nd the decoration. We can't buy our decorations in a certain store, as the decorations are being stamped by the royal mint... Except for internet (2nd-hands stuff ) But the decorations have to be returned to the chancellery or must be paid when the decorandus has died...
    21. Humm, Maybe should I try to walke some shop in and ask for a croix d'guerre 1954 with lions (I love lions ) Any hints for me?? But I thought that the national orders aren't to be sold freely ???!! Because I see people being awarded the medal and not getting a certificate.. Hendrik, Good hunt saturday at the MEDEC-Beurs.
    22. Hummm That might be true... But still, if it never had been awarded... How can it bear a palm or a lion?? Are the manufacturers allowed to sell official medals?? If so, then I could walk in and buy this cross along with a grandcross or grand chordon???
    23. So when he finally is going to retire, he might get the gold palms at last?? or even a knights cross if he works long enough?
