    1. Hi Dave, Thanks for the extra career info! His EKII was announced in the Hamburger Anzeiger on 31st Dec 1915, and his EKI appeared in the Hamburgischer Correspondent on 29th Oct 1917. I haven't found the HH notification yet...
    2. Another really late one - Lt dR Alfred Koyemann. Published in the Hamburger Anzeiger dated 20th December 1918
    3. Hi all, There was another aviation recipient of this award - Kurt Jaenisch https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=128490 Best Regards, Matt.
    4. Thanks Dave and Daniel. It's always nice to see the extra info you have on these men. Ok I have another late entry - Lt dR Wilhelm Kotthoff. This is from the Oldenburgische Volkszeitung dated 26th November 1918 :-
    5. Hi Ian, Thanks a lot, it's appreciated. Just to add to my earlier post, below are the only recipients that I'm aware of:- Ascheberg, Percy Baron von (circa 1924-27) Beroldingen, Egon Graf von (circa 1915-1918) Blomberg, Karl-August von Boenigk, Oskar Freiherr von (circa 1933-34) Brandt gen. Flender, Fritz von (on 16th July 1915) Kettler, Maximilian Frhr von (circa 1920-27)
    6. Hi GdC26, Yes thanks - it mentions 4 years service as Enhrenritter before being entitled to become a Rechtsritter. If Ian doesn't mind my hijacking his thread, I am going to post a rather grainy photo of an aviator who is wearing the Johanniter orden. Unfortunately I don't know his name, but as it's an uncommon award I am hoping that he can be identified. The man is probably from FFA 19.
    7. Hi all, Did you need to have the Ehrenritter before becoming eligible for the Rechtsritter?
    8. I believe the man on the left is wearing the Prussian observer's badge. It looks like the poor chap has lost both his legs.
    9. Hi Andreas, Thanks for your reply. Hi David, I'm not sure. But the man's name should give the answer providing it can be deciphered.
    10. Hi Christophe, Thanks for the confirmation! Ok here is a list of HOH3x recipients from IR 75. Unfortunately I don't own the book.
    11. Hi Christophe, We discussed this mystery man briefly on page 16. Here is a snippet relating to Lt dR Adolf Motsch, but I'm not sure if the award should be the HOH3x or the HEK3x. I couldn't find his name in the Militär-Wochenblatt. Best Regards, Matt.
    12. Hi Dave, Nice explanation and photo. Do you know if the 1914-1918 Bavarian Verordnungsblatt are available to view online? Matt.
    13. Hi OvBacon, Thanks for the additional photos of Wulf. Hi Gunnar, Thank you for confirming the AH award. This makes it more likely that it's him, although he should be wearing the retired aviator's badge as you say.
    14. Hi P.F., Thanks for the extra career info. I would just like to add that a helpful member of another forum informed me that the sixth medal on his uniform is the Prussian lifesaving medal. Also that the wartime photograph of Josef Wulf comes from the website buddecke.de. Matt.
