    1. Guys, This was cheap and chearful today so I picked it up knowing how you all like your ribbon bars. It is a massive A3 picture and very clear so any failing in the pics is due to my poor photography. Hope it is of interest to the WW1 buffs. jock
    2. Sorry larry no name or unit, I may tease a few out and see if anything is on the back of them as they have tose corner fitting things as opposed to being glued in. Jerry thanks for the correction my AFV recognition is failing me! Spasm it looks like a fairy tricky opperation for all involved, you would like to think it went straight down but I suppose it could have been forced back in by the wind. jock
    3. Guys, As stated above. I like the toilet arrangements on the train and the PZ III, is it being repaired or canibalised, can't see any track and the final drive is detached? Like the guy trying to have a pee, the mechanics of it in full gear looks complicated. Playing with his CZ 27 pistol is a bit naughty! It is in top nick as it is still with its original box, bonus! These are not all of the pics but it is a few of the more interesting. Jock
    4. Chuck, If you don't buy it you still have your money in your pocket. I have seen what they are supposed to go for in Neimans but who says they are real at all, is there rock solid evidence that they are TR produced? I don't know so I am asking as I am sure you have done a bit of research if you are considering the plunge. When were they first sold as the real deal and who endorsed them based on what? I have only seen an original aluminum version so I can't comment properly as I guess most can't. Anyone who owns one will of course defend it to the death I am sure. I have noted the pin is thicker than any in the neimans book but what is to say any of them are correct in the first place? Good Luck. Jock
    5. Nice stuff Jerry, I remember seeing a few of the WW1 tanks not that long ago on a visit to UK and they seemed relativley inexpensive, just they were from the wrong side or I would have had a couple! Jock
    6. Bit expensive, shop around, you wil certainly find cheaper crosses. Jock
    7. Guys, Just posted this up on '12 o clock high', an aviation forum. This is now our family silver used only at Christmas. It is just north of Bergen so local to us. Jock
    8. Guys, Glad you like it, just thought it interesting that a young 19/20 year old lass volunteered and she is active for the rest of the war, she must have seen some sights in her time. She was hospitalised herself twice the later being code 19 (other sickness of the breathing organs). Paul, these are not uncommon I am sure I have a few more somewhere. Kevin maybe a specific thread just for females would be useful and focus them in one place? I do have more stuff but will have to dig them out which is a pain as I have no filing system in place. Jock
    9. Dave, A belated thanks for the info, I don't have the notifications turned on. Tony perhaps mine is some sort of tranfer or decal and yours directly stenciled on? Jock
    10. Jerry, I have no idea as I am rather more for the enemies than our gear. There does seem to be a lot of police collectors on here that may have an idea?! Jock
    11. What a nicely made and well crafted tile, obviously well loved and missed by his family.
    12. Guys, As stated above, its a bit rough but I have not seen this type so often. Jock
    13. Guys, As stated above, found yesterday on fleemarket, a well travelled young lady, I wonder if she knew what she was letting herself in for when she volunteered? Jock
    14. Rogi I had not seen the roundal thanks for that, I think it is time for glasses! Andy, didn'y know that they wore them into action, I just assumed they wouldn't want bright objects framing their head, you really do learn something new every day! Cheers Jock
    15. Thanks for that Andy, What I thought was interesting is that it appears to be a photo of a photo, perhaps Unit produced as a souvineer? Also the bloke far left seems to be a bandsman wearing his swallows nests so probably not at the front line? Thanks for the mapping. Cheers Jock
    16. Paul, no, it is rusted up and the locking catch is sheered off too, it is sadly just a relic. You can see from the nuts and bolts that it is not coming apart without a drill, best left as is I think? Jock
    17. Guys, Unusual uniform which i read somewhere could be Landwehr. Some portrates nothing fancy. I like the NSRB post with the WHW stamp. Jock
    18. Guys, Some soldiers posing with downed/crashed plane? This according to the reverse is from IR 94, 1st Coy I think. Looks like a boot just to the left of the wheel? Jock
    19. Tony, No it was serious money this time (€100) but I don't have this version just the LP42 so it had to be done! Jock
    20. Guys, Went out to play today, again very late, only a few pictures as i would expect at about 1100 local time, then I found a lucky penny and this?! It appears to be shrapnel damaged on the R/H side it is from a mechanical point of view rusted solid so the hammers don't work, the aluminium parts are fine though except for the locking catch which is sheered off. I don't have one of these and it is original so I took the plunge! Jock
    21. Last update, After a whole day of messing about with it I found an excellent video on youtube (unable to post link for some reason but if you search MG 131 it is the first on their list) of how to strip it down, so after much hammering and knuckle rash it is back together, the paint can wait as it is smothered in rifle oil. I also owe the wife a new wash basin as I cracked it with the feed cover whilst cleaning it. This has proven a costly venture with paint stripper, rust eater and now a wash basin. Jock
    22. Update, having a play since the Easter weather is about right (intermitant down-pours). I have cleaned it up some more, all of the crap paint is gone revealing a lot of rust damage, on a plus side have freed off the top cover and flash eliminator, its coming up quite well. Just treating it now with a bit of 'Hamerite' rust convertor which looks like it will give it a blueblack finish. I will ask one of the armourers if he can spare a bit of the 'parkerising paint we used to use to tart up the rifles with, if they still have it these days. Happy Easter! Jock
    23. Very interesting and very clever verse, I would not have thought many would have survived if only 1/2 million produced and dropped. I remember 'doing areas' (picking up rubbish) on the Gun position near Kuwait somewhere in the middle of bloody nowhere and there were a lot of similar things that the US syops had dropped on the Iraqies, I kept some of them but have since given most of them away. At the time many of them were already degraded due to blowing around in the desert for only a short time so in Europe with a bit of rain?
