    1. Nice looking lid, Larry! If I haven't done it before I would like to welcome you to this kinder gentler forum. Nice place. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
    2. An excellent beginning, Jim, keep at it and enjoy the chase.
    3. As Rick notes, a close up of the bars would be appreciated. Handsome group!
    4. Craig, I could not defend the statement in the same way we would defend a thesis or dissertation. I have heard claims of having seen reference books with this information from M.Morris, take that for what it's worth. I also had a conversation with a German gentlemen in April of 1980 near the Oberndorf facility. He claimed to have been such an inspector for the Waffenampt and that they each had individual numbers. Could as well have been the beer talking as anything else... So I best amend my statement to reflect "hobby speculation" for the moment. Welcome to the Forum. Glad to see you here!
    5. The order of precedence has changed for the Purple Heart which now follows the Bronze Star so it could be either the Purple Heart or the Air Medal in that position. I also have a problem with blurring under magnification. Squinting at medal number one and I'm not sure it's a Bronze Star given the disproportionate striping on the ribbon...but I don't have an alternative decoration.
    6. Wow! It looks like Herr Schickle made at least four different sizes of EKII spangen or do I need to clean my glasses?
    7. I don't see that in the photo I'm looking at. What does it look like on RICKYVISION? It's gotta clink to by US but then maybe we have US decorations mounted in the UK for whatever reason. Unlike full size medals miniatures are available almost anywhere a decent military tailor can be found.
    8. Here is a 9mm high '39 EKII spange on a mini half height sew-on ribbon bar. I suspect there may be even smaller ones on lapel stick pins. Sometimes, if I stare at it long enough, I can convince myself that it is a type I...
    9. This is the smallest first type of '39 EKII spange I have on a ribbon bar. The device is so small and the curvature so subtle it is difficult to scan and show both ends clearly. It is 13mm high.
    10. Strictly GI. Got a similar one in a drawer somewhere... Formal miniatures which are worn customarily on mess dress and civilian formal attire as the good reverand is doing here provided, of course, in the lower left hand corner of the invitation the word "decorations" appears.
    11. Ah, HA! I have the mighty learned one in geographical pun voiding conundrum...the Rhein flows nowhere near Saxony...or South Bronx!
    12. I'm looking at the photo in post # 8 and wondering about the Major's boots. Are the uppers patent leather and the bottoms regular leather? Note the difference in shine...or maybe his orderly is about to be court martialed!
    13. OK, Rick, at what point does a neck order become a belly button order? ...and just out of curiosity what are the mechanics of suspending multiple neck orders?
    14. ...and astute researchers continue to gather evidence supporting the rather disturbing connection between cat hair and brain damage. ...and I think he resembles Reggie a bit more than Jesse. In any event it is a wonderful bar and photo group!
    15. I always wonder about abrupt resignations. Did he get caught with the Regimental Commander's wife? Was he found pilfering silver from the officer's mess. Or was he just lucky enough to have powerful enemies? What is with this 'technology' stuff? We all know the Evil One uses the black arts exclusively and has no need of our puny technology.
    16. Congratulations you are off to a great start!
    17. Not necessarily, Adam. Anyone serving in the theater of operations receives credit for the campaign.
    18. I've had enough of "interesting wars" I could do with an "uninteresting one."
