    1. A war is a poor place to test a tank. The capabilities had best be understood and integrated well before the vehicle and its crew are placed in harm's way. The Leclerc has a very nice profile and I must admit to having a weakness for a gyrostabilized gun platform.
    2. I like the profile of the Challenger II. What does it mount for a main gun and what sort of power pack and drive train does it use?
    3. Always so neat and tidy. How did they do that in an age well before Velcro?
    4. Stogie! Look at # 51 it appears to be one of those original Air Gunner thingies... ...and a wonderful and informative thread. Thanks very much.
    5. RR may have something to contribute on Altvater when he sees this bar.
    6. I would love to see the derivation of those statistics. Is based on field research on Saville Row?
    7. Thank you all for your input. It's appreciated. It appears the answer to my own question is, "No, not yet."
    8. Here we have a photo of Hussar Regiment 13 circa 1912 at their home station. It features the commander, adjutant, drummer, part of the band and to the right some troopers from the regiment. The question is why would a hussar regiment be carrying lances?? Another question came to mind as I posted this. Why does the Adjustant wear his single cross belt over his right shoulder and everyone else in the picture wears it over their left?? I wonder if the Chief Wizard of New England knows...
    9. Family members often wore miniature wings reflecting their loved one's position in the flight crew: pilot, navigator, bombardier, gunner, engineer.
    10. The picture is from the visitor's perspective. This is what is seen upon entering the boat's display area. Here is a different perspective showing both conning towers. Visit the museum's website and take the virtual tour. They have done an excellent job. http://www.msichicago.org/exhibit/U505/index.html
    11. I knew the quality of viewing would increase exponentially as soon as Ralph joined this thread!
    12. Seek the aid of "The Evil One" he comes from a tradition of witchcraft and assorted black arts. He may be just the guy to enlist in your pursuits...
    13. Thanks Glenn. I wonder how his friends addressed him? Waldemar seems a bit formal for everyday use. Is there a common nickname for Waldemar?
    14. Andy Baus in Germany consulted his Ehren-Tafel der Gefallen K?niglich-Preu?schen Kadetten and it indicates the first name of Rittmeister Bodenstedt to be Waldemar. No date of birth is given. I would still like to learn what Glenn's sources reveal to him. ...and another piece of the puzzle drops into place.
