    2. Super Jan! Got them now! cheers |<ris
    3. hey all, I am trying to identify the chap on the first pic. Thise small lot of medals came out of the woodwork. It was from a house clearence, but I was not present during that house clearence so I have not clue what so ever about it all. I did some research regarding the nominative "Vuurkruiser" medal on http://www.tenboome.webruimtehosting.net/guldenboek/Guldenboekprojecttotaal/ And ended up with the man in the middle on the second pic...could they be relatives?? It is clear that the typical WOI medals are the second chap's medals , who had them apparently in 3 sets! Along with the military and civil medals , there are sort of table medals; - chambre de commerce Bruxelles (flip side; SA Sepo 1940-1965) - conferentie Rotary club bergen Op Zoom 1986 District 161 La Pucelle - challenge franchomme -Dumoulin le vainqueur 20-XI-31 and thise (!!??!) - special operation forces civil affairs regiment. Any help regarding thise is greatly appreciated! cheers |<ris

    11. I have seen these popping up on some other forum,if I remember correctly....!? First is a scout insigna, not sure wich country. Second and third are Belgian grenadier sholder insigna's, 4; seems to have a Spanish crown and 5 could be Italian cheers |<ris
    12. They are all pre WWI. 4 & 5 are jager officers who served in Congo. 1 seems to be a chaplain....? 2 seem to be a 11 th infanterie regiment's officer, who also served in Congo. 3 & 6 are pre 1910 Congo officials
    13. News to me too! Thanks for sharing. |<
    14. The pipe fitting idea, does come up on different occassions, when asked on different other fora. But all ohter ideas as well. What i am looking for is a picture or other evidence of similar objects. I did found a pic, sadly not clear enough....to see if these are similar constructed items....
    15. Medical purpose also came up to me. The inside material is some kind of leather, missing for a part on the smaller one. The diametres are on the pic's; +/- 5.5 and 8 cm. I did look on old medical instruments site's,but couldn't find any similar objects, but that doesn't mean anything of course! I might take a other look. Thanks so far guy's! cheers |<ris
    16. but it can be anything! It could be something to close a gap in a tube as well...I realy don't know... Anybody here who have seen thise objects before??
    17. Must have been 1969 ! We were in Paris back then for 7 months.... Nounours and Pipiou (on a toujours besoin d'un plus pettit que soit!).... Nice medal btw!! cheers |<ris
    18. Hey Paul, thanks for your apreciation (and GM1 too of course!!). I just removed the pastel from the frame in the hope to find any notes at the back, but there are non(related to the painter, nor the sitter!)! The search continues! Might have to try your idea Paul! But having the pic out of the frame, it gave me the chance to up load better photos, without having the reflexion of the glass;
    19. My collection Belgian Congo grows very slowly, those objects are very hard to come by. Here is my latest (just in!!) Portrait was made by ,Emiel Jacques, (°Moorslede, 17 juli 1874/+Michigan, 1937)a Belgian artist who moved to the US and died as a American citizen. I still need to find out who the officer was...
    20. Terrific! Good catch. The other one is a odre national du mérite! I know! ...I just missed one .... |<
    21. Found it ! In fact the picture was taken 10' away from the Baraque Michel, at the Hotel De Mont Rigi and thise was in Germany. Here is the buisiness card I found on the net, exatly what it says above the entrance!
    22. Here is a intresting pic (i think!!) I found in a house clearence memory box! It took me two days to identify the unifrom, and I think I am right to say it is a German forster, but what is he doing in Belgium posing at the Baraque Michel ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baraque_Michel
    23. Hey Chris, the forme, the finition, the details in general give it away! It is all about comparing and training the eye... First glimp on that picture could give the impression the pic was taken from a special top angle making everything about the helmets extended, but the colck's at the back show it isn't. Don't know if you are getting me...!?? cheers |<ris
