Possible to date a order of Order of Isabella the Catholic?
revolutie1830 replied to JohanH's topic in Spain
Hello, I have a document wich authorizes wearing a foreign order. In this case "Commandeur de l'Ordre d'Isabelle la Catholique" . Is there a list for Belgians awarded with this order? Which type of order would match this document? Thank you in advance. -
Hello Christiaan, nice collection Order of the Crown. Those boxes with "text" as you probably allready know meaning: - POC / GPK = Palmes d'Or Couronne / Gouden Palmen Kroonorde - MOC / GMK = Médaille d'or Couronne / Gouden Medaille Kroonorde Box with M 1e is probably for the Civilian medal 1st class but also could be for an other medal, Burgerlijke Medaille 1914-1918. (Civilian Medal 14-18) Werner

As you can see Hendrik, his name was correctly spelled. Indeed I know and have that publication by Peter Verstraeten. I am aware that its almost impossible but you know that sometimes Belgian groupings comes with a foreign medal or order. Maybe I will refraise my question later for a specific medal 😀 Regards, Werner -

Hello bilylev. As you can see and read, this one should be in gilded silver and the crown in silver (second class). His name was engraved in the wrong way, it should be Fenchère instead of Feuchère. Cheers, Werner Hello Hendrik, for this one I have to consult an other publication because it is a 1847 medal. As you have noticed, the head of Leopold I is smaller. Meaning that originally it was just a medal without crown. Perhaps you can check if this medal was mounted into a circle. Difficult to explaine in English for me. Otherwise send me a PM to explain this in Dutch. Werner Found him. I forgot to mention that the ribbon is not original. It is a modern replacement. Greetings, Werner -

Hello VC89. There's a study about these medals where you can find those names. You can also find them in "Moniteur Belge" - "Belgisch Staatsblad". Your medal should be a second class, the medal is gilded silver and the crown silver. Perhaps you can do some cleaning. He also received a silver medal (third class) for an other act of bravery in 1849. Greetings
