    1. RARE!!!! Is all I can say about this one - perhaps Zsolt can give some more information about it. (as I have none - but a guess that it may have been for agriculture???)
    2. Yep - its the Don River Front Veterans Association pin - for those veterans who survived the defeat of the 2nd Army at the Don River bend during the winter campaign on 1942-43. (My mistake on the years - previously posted as 1943-44!
    3. Yep - she is a beautiful one! Looking at the pins - its probable that they all do belong - and it looks like pins for someone who did a good job while in the munkasor and at her 'day job'. I would look hard for some holes made by a medal bar as it she was certainly in the munkasor for at least 10 years - probably more! So she would have worn at least a 10 year (probably 15, 20 etc...) and perhaps even a service to the fatherland medal in bronze, silver or gold. The pin that makes me question is the 25 year parade pin - if you take that off then the ensamble is more 'neat' in appearance, but if you look at the period photos - they didnt wear their pins and medals very neat at all!
    4. Interesting that besides the mini - no one has yet to produce a badge in the 2000 - 2999 range...
    5. Local coin collectors association show held every week...
    6. Latest aquision to the slowly growing Soviet collection. A very nice ORS # 1043118 (late 1944 early 1945 issue? - probably for a long service?) For all of those complaining about high prices - this one came my way for less than $20. I like to think that half of the fun of the hobby is finding the great deals that are still out there to be found! Happy Hunting!
    7. Christian - it was too easy - I muss confess, I was Googleing for several hours until I looked at the film section here and noticed your input on the best movie ever. So - it was all too easy after that. In the stroke of generosity that I was given (and as history of the CCCP is not a sector that I know too well - yet...) I would like to give my question to Ed Haynes for his belated birthday. (And see if I can get my question back!)
    8. Hummmmm - interesting - the tartan pattern of the scuff pad indicates pre 1956 manufacture. Is the insert (for the badge) of the case plastic with sprayed on felt? Or is it cut out cardboard or wood? There were some oolder cases 'found' in the 1970's without the inserts and the old scuff pads. Plastic inserts were added. It would seem that this was part of a group? What kind of academy badge? Blue backed one or another type? Now I am curious!
    9. In my short search, I have found a couple of SZTT's - the TT's are mostly "Academic Body (Corps)" SZ could be for the Sz?chenyi (Tudom?nyos T?rsas?g). Still, never seen anything like it. Can you post a photo of the case - or more importantly - is the recess of the case molded to the badge? If so - then probably from the 1960's-70's. Zsolt may know more about this?
    10. As Gordon can testify to - when I see one of these lost in the woods of a dealers table, the usualy come home with me. I keep putting them together in the display cabinet or in the storage boxes, but they all seem to be alpha males and unable (or unwilling) to reproduce on their own. But I shall keep trying! JMOSA article is buzzing around my head BTW...Once I can secure more sources and documentation. Anatoly - Did yours come from Russia? Perhaps it was bestowed to a Soviet citizen? That number range would indicate a more 'political' award from the mid to late 1950's?
    11. That is an interesting one - never seen it before. Are you certain that the letters are SZIT? That organization was abandoned in the 1950's. From my eyes it looks like EZTT or SZTT??? from the look of it though, the sword and the odd looking discus in the figures hand would lead me to believe that its for a grenade toss competition. It may also be post 1990 as there is no star on it?
    12. Yes - thats what I am noticing as well, hence trying to make a database. Also trying to see if we can find one numbered above 7000? The more I think about it - these things when measured to other 'collectables' in the militaria field are pretty rare with probably no more than 10,000 ever produced.
    13. Type 1.1 (with missing paracute deivce - very common with these pieces!)
