Another Lw spanish cross in gold winner. What it is also interesting on this one is the ribbon for the "Medalla militar".

Uffz. Wilhelm OBLAU 1.Ln/88 died on june 11th, 1937. his vehicule was hit by a foe artillerie round in the vicinity of Monte Biscargui.

Hi, The members of the LC who died in Spain, did recieved posthumously one of the three classes of the spanish cross with swords. I suppose, but this is only my opinion, that the class was in accordance to the way the people died. For exemple, a soldier dead in combat, whatever his rank, received the gold cross; those died in accident received the bronze. They were also awarded posthumously spanish medal ie. "sufrimientos por la patria", "medalla de la campa?a". The family received the posthumously awarded cross, and the awarded spanish medal with all the documents. Of course the familly received also the honor cross for next of kin and the affered document. A letter from the RLM generally accompanied the whole package. Sometimes the former LC unit commander sent to the familly a small photo album, with indications of the place were the soldier died and the buried place. jacques

As it has been already said and illustrated, LC members received at home their documents after their return to germany, from 1940 to 1943. This dates are related to the documents I saw or own; perhaps some were edited and sent in 1939 or after 1943, but until now, I never saw one. few Recipients recieved a large spanish document for two medals instead of the known single one. here is one pictured in a group, for the "medalla de la campa?a" and "cruz blanca del merito militar". it also exists for the "cruz roja". I didn't see many of these documents. 2 of them were sent in 1943 to the family. I would like to know if anybody has information about these documents, date of edition, etc... jacques

Indeed, this badge is very scarce. It is the badge worn by some LC members of the Army Signal Coy of the Imker gruppe. Don't worry SAL, the doc is OK. Several writing do exist on these very documents for wounded, with spanish rank or german rank. I hope you are still chatting on MSn while I write this.

Here is mine from era 1933-1936

Fine cross, but the crown doens't macht with spanish civil war era. It could be more 1700-1933 or 1975-today. I think it is a pre-1933 cross. Nevertheless beautiful and cased. jacques

[Currently for active duty, these miniatures are worn with the gala uniform only and are available on several supports. For the reserve , there are worn on the civil clothe during ceremonies. Look at the guy behind the red beret. I think that all the french and NATO medals are available at any "Ma?tre tailleur" shop, but the prices are generally high. jacques

Of course the cross is cased. the case is in black simili- leather, with a gold cross stamped on the lid. the bottom lid is of white/cream velvet with two separated parts (ribbon and cross). the upper is of white silk. width: 49,8 lenght: 111 hight: 20 weight: 31,85
