Hello Yankee, As I recall, there were three pieces. I am sure that one was a Red Eagle 2nd class with swords and oakleaves and swords star. The repair was to the white enamel on the arms - it is flawless. Unfortunately, I can not remember what the other pieces were, but if I do, I will certainly let you know. Best wishes, Wild Card

Gentlemen, About twenty years ago, I had some extensive enamel repair work done on a couple of pieces by, or through, Spink’s in London. The results were extraordinary. As I said, this was about twenty years ago, so I do not know what their capabilities are today, but it might be worth investigating. Regards, Wild Card

A good point, but then we don’t see many bars with 1830’s era decorations either. As a sidelight. As you can see in post #1, this medal has quite a distinct ribbon. I believe that this ribbon was used again during the Third Reich for a medal which was awarded exclusively to a unit known as “The Spanish Blue Division”, which mainly fought in Russia. What the reason, or connection, was, I do not know. Other members? A very nice medal, Tom Y. Thank you for showing it and thanks also for the historical information on it - well done!

As I recall, this clasp was awarded for two years of “front line” service. I do not know exactly how front line service was defined or how it was calculated - continuous or summarized. I would say that this one looks to be a fine example. I do not think that these clasps are very widely faked. I can remember seeing only one fake over the years and it was so bad, that you could tell it from across the room.

Hello tsarenko1975. Thank you also for your information. If you don’t mind, I have a question though. First, I think that the piece that you identify as a St. Anna 2nd class is the one that I took as an Alexander Nevsky. Looking at it, at first I thought that it was a St. Stanislaus because there appears to be more gold (eagles?) between the arms than I would expect with a St. Anna; but the ribbon is all wrong for that. Now, with regard to the ribbon, I just cannot find any trace of the side stripe found on the St. Anna ribbon. It appears to me to be a solid color ribbon, but what color? These old black and white photographs reverse and warp color shades so badly that things are easily confused. Thank you again. Best wishes, Wild Card

Hi Jeff, Thank you very much for the information. I don’t know if you could magnify the picture enough to see it or not, but there is a narrow side stripe on the ribbon to this piece. I do not have the Andolenko and Werlich book that you mention ; but is the insignia shown at... http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Emblema_IPPO.jpg ...what it would look like? Thank you again for your interest and help. Best wishes, Wild Card

Gentlemen, Pictured below is the great grandfather of a dear friend. Would it be possible to identify his awards? I see a St. Vladmir Order, but am not sure of what class. 2nd perhaps? There is also what appears to be an Alexander Nevsky Order? Is there any way of identifying the small round medal and the medal/order ti the left of the St. Vladmir? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, Wild Card

Gentlemen, Two weeks ago, we opened a new thread, “What do you know about Bavarian MVK's”, which, with now over one hundred posts, has brought forth much new and informative material. I would now like to bring that thread to the next, and obvious, level by introducing - “What do you know about Bavarian MVO's” I would also like to encourage the posting of minis because in this order we find some excellent examples of the jeweler’s talents. Lastly, I want to thank all who refrained from posting your MVO’s in the MVK thread. Now, here’s your chance -
