    1. Beau - that’s St. Michael at it’s best. I have posted this piece before, a Waldeck gold merit medal as awarded from 1891 to 1899.
    2. Gentlemen, Although home to be photographed for a thread in another forum, I hope that this prinzen pair might qualify as being rare enough to be included here. Regards, Wild Card
    3. Hello Brian Wolfe, A nice old bar you have there. Obviously the cross is not an officially issued piece, which makes me wonder if possibly this might have originally been a case where the recipient had both the bronze and steel 1870-71 medals on the combat ribbon? I know of cases where recipients had steel medals on both combat and non combat ribbons; but am not 100% sure of the bronze and steel 1870-71 medals on the combat ribbon. Anyone? Best wishes, Wild Card
    4. :speechless1: Hi medalnet, If that is what I think it is, there was only about... oh, let’s see... maybe... ONE awarded! If nothing else, it is nice to know that it still exists, especially since it would be over 160 years old. We are not talking a Red Eagle here. Items like this were so commonly lost or thrown out over the years. Thanks for sharing this one and only. Best wishes, Wild Card
    5. Last, are four crosses from Nassau for 25, 22, 16 and 10 years as awarded from 1834 to 1866.
    6. Here is a 25 year cross which was awarded from 1849 to 1866 along with 15, 10 and 5 year crosses from Hessen-Kassel as awarded from 1835 to 1849
    7. Taking the original photo and by copying, zooming, cropping, trans-warping... we get a little better picture. Here are 25, 25 and 15 year crosses which were awarded from 1840 to 1866, a 10 year cross which was awarded from 1840 to 1866 and a 10 year cross which was awarded from 1865-1866. All are from Frankfurt.
    8. Gentlemen, Eric Ludvigsen had one of the finest and most complete collections of long service decorations ever assembled. Here is an old photo which shows a few of his pieces.
    9. Great pictures with a different theme. Thank you for sharing. Wild Card
    10. Absolutely great! Thank you
    11. Gentlemen, Congratulations on your beautiful collections (Doc, you certainly have been busy), and thank you for sharing them with us. This thread has made me look at Soviet uniforms with a new appreciation. Best wishes, Wild Card P.S. Here is all that I can contribute to the thread.
    12. Gentlemen, Thank you all for your interest and comments which I find very helpful. In the end, I feel that the quality of my piece indicates that it is most likely a spangenstuck. When comparing the center medallions of my cross to Beau’s, the quality, especially of the lions on the reverse, is most noticeable. The spacing of the letters in the motto rings indicates that mine is not a (cast) copy of his; and lastly, the differences in the suspension rings is obvious. Thank you all again, and best wishes, Wild Card
    13. I have a feeling that you are correct, that is why I asked. While we are at it, here are better pictures of the center medallions. Thank you for your interest and comment VtwinVince. Best wishes, Wild Card
    14. The center medallions are separately applied. I am not completely comfortable with the ring on the top of the cross to which the crown is attached. What do you think? Wild Card
    15. Gentlemen, Here is a cute little junk box pickup from the SOS. I would like to ask for your opinions.
