    1. Hi Hagrid, welcome here. I'm glad that your first post is on this thread. Maybe it was the reason for your sign in. I hope you can contribute something on this thread. Kind regards Alex
    2. On the place of the hamburger cross it would be wrong. The Oldenburger pushed on the second position and than the FEK. Regards Alex
    3. He got the Hamburger and worn it on the medal bar during the war. Later on when he got the Ehrenkreuz he changed it with the Hanseatenkreuz. I have a picture of him wearing this medal bar befor the cross was chaged. Same bar. The Ehrenkreuz was more important for him. Regards Alex
    4. One more. The group of Oberfeuerwerker Kurt Porske. In the navy from 1902, serving on many ships (S.M.S. HERTHA, S.M.S. LORELEY, S.M.S. MÜNCHEN, S.M.S. MAGDEBURG, S.M.S. KAISER, S.M.S. PRINZREGENT LUITPOLD, S.M.S. KOENIG). He was onbord of SMS KÖNIG during the battle of Skagerrak. From 1917 - 1919 with the airship service. He recieved both ottoman medals during his service at the Feuerwerker school as teacher. Maybe prevent some guys for doing stupid things :-)
    5. 300 is hard if is a identical reprint from original but if the reprint require a lot of work it worth to add additional information and new pictures. But 100-200 is realisitc. That makes the book more interesting and the goal of 300 is more realistic. Regards Alex
    6. In my oppionion you should try a OCR software for text recognition to avoid typing. The actual generation of software works very good. 90 percent of the text will be identified. That save you a lot of work. I agree with you that you will not get rich but IMHO it worth. Regards Alex
    7. I regret that this project never been brought to an end, because I and another fellow spent a lot of work to add infomation for a reprint. There were some issues but with more effort this could be solved. Regards Alex
    8. The land pilot badge is the navy version of the imperial german pilot badge although the training was on different units. The navy have their own training facilities but some of the pilots were trained on army training units. The number of navy land pilots are less than army pilots. Regards Alex
    9. Hi Chris, don't rush. There are a lot of great NCOs group around. My second favorite is the group of: VzFw Georg Markert enter the war with 5. bayer. Res. Feldartillerie Regiment where he remained until 1917 when he changed to air service. After pilot and single seater training he joined Jasta 76b. He had one victory on 30.05.1918 but died the day after on a dogfight. He was awarded the Ehrenbecher pothum.
    10. Great groups guys. Sometimes NCOs bars are better then officers bars. One if my favorite groups is this one. VzFw Max Kampf an Saxon NCO who served in DSWA from 1904-06. Awarded with MEZ2, FAM bronce and DM for SWA. On WW1 he joined the air service as an pilot and served with KAGOHL 1 1916-17. He was one of few Saxon pilots who received the St.Heinrich medal. The fact that both documents (pilot and commemorative badge) survived makes this group one of my favorites.
    11. This badges are so rare and one of few originals showed on this thread. I hoped to get some more oppinions. Regards
    12. Correct, it is the same badge but from another guy. It is from an german manufacturer. The owner was later pilot with Jasta 22, 6 and 48. Really nice group. Regards Alex
    13. This nice german made ottoman pilot badge comes from the estate of an known german pilot who served in the ottoman air service during the war. I love this badge, one of few I ever seen. Regards Alex
    14. Great group of piece wich I never seen before even know existing. Outstand badge. Regards Alex
    15. Wellcome here. You found one of the best sources. This forum. Here are some of the best collectors of german aviation badges and you will get allways help. The second one you should think about is literature. 1. Imperial Sky by Stephen Previtera 2. Aircrew Badges and Honor Prices of the Flying Troops from 1913-1920 by Carsten Baldes 3. Army Aviation & Commemorative Airship Badges by Robert S. Pandis And many threads on this forum like this
    16. Maybe I can help you. First a nice portrait of an air gunner. Group of air men. Find the air gunner :-)
    17. from left to right: Flugmaat Huthmacher (P), Lt.z.S. Eugen Zapp (B), Vizeflugmeister Hilger (B), Lt.z.S. Friedrich Christiansen (P), Flugmaat Karl Elsaesser (B), Lt.d.R.M.A. Hans Röver (P)
    18. Great contribution Odulf. Don't stop. @ Gunnar, you are right. The Harms who received the observer badge on 21.05.1918 is not Gerhard. It should be the Art.Mt. Harms from LFA who was at LFS Barge and later promoted to Vz.Fl.Mst.d.R. on 21.08.1918. But Gerhard was canceled from the list of observer on 19th Sept. 1918. That means the date of award to Gerhard Harms is missing. Regards Alex
