DDR My first Urkunde ....
speedytop replied to Grant Broadhurst's topic in Germany: Post 1945: Bundesrepublik & DDR
Hi Grant, it is a document about 3 years and 3 months honourable service in the MfS (Ministerium f?r Staatssicherheit = Stasi) for a female corporal. Now she has retired from the army with the last rank "Unteroffizier". Regards Uwe -
Hi Grant, Rick: "That is a remarkably nice case!" It could be, that the case does not belong to this NVA decoration. It is typically for MdI decorations, e.g. "F?r vorbildlichen Grenzdienst". You can find these old cases with press button in green, red, brown, blue, black, dark blue, in different design, with different inlay. My NVA/MfS cases (this type) are in brown, black and dark blue. Regards Uwe

LDO designations
speedytop replied to repadilla's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Hi, my Post 10 here was made before I have seen your thread on the WAF. We had this discussion already in German forums. I have seen some more pieces. And personally I also have my problem with L 58 for EK 1 with screwback. But this is not the subject here. Can you please show an angular picture (WAF), that we can see the difference in the height of the swastika in comparison to the beading, is it like this: Regards Uwe -

speedytop replied to repadilla's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Hi, this is my personal experience, indeed, not uncontradicted . This differentiation is valid only for Souval. Please, show me period pieces with L/58 (till may 1945). I learn with pleasure something new. If you can persuade me, I correct my opinion. Regards Uwe -
Poland A collection of Polish medals
speedytop replied to Kris D's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Hi Anatoly13, "Are we in the court?" No!! But: "I see fakes" "-Order of Grunwald First Class, -Order of Grunwald Second Class" That is fact statement, and not opinion. I'm a collector and a researcher. and we all must make a distinction between fact and opinion clearly. First you have said "real gold", now you say "produced in Warshawa from not gold" too. In silver gilt, bronze gilt, both? Do you know, how many they produced? I think more than the awarded pieces. And where are your proofs for the Order of Grunwald Second Class? I think, that we all need some more information about the material, the dimensions, the weight, the design. I do not have a problem, if these are copies, but I would like to know it and must not believe it. Hi Christophe, and have a look at Post 7. Regards Uwe Please excuse my bad English -
Poland A collection of Polish medals
speedytop replied to Kris D's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Hi Anatoly13, I think, it is not enough to say, it is a fake/it must be a fake. You can say this only if you exactly know it and you can prove it. In different sources you can find e.g. different information about the material: gold, silver gilt, gilt, bronze gilt. Is "real gold" always correct for the long period 1944-1992? Do you know it certainly? I bought my first Order of Grunwald 1st class circa 1992, the two other examples later. When I compare one of them with the cross in Post 15, for me no wide difference is recognizable there. The picture in Post 15 you can find on different websites, e.g.: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_Krzy%C5%BCa_Grunwaldu The pictures for comparison: Regards Uwe PS: I miss marshal Golikov in the list of the book and on the polish website, I have a ribbon bar of marshal Golikov with the Order of Grunwald 1st class in the sixth row. -

Hi, "It could be instructive for all of us to know what sort of things to look for when assessing a piece." I also have some Polish medals (e.g. Grunwald Order in all classes) and I would be interested in a concrete answer very much. I can show better pictures, in a new thread? Regards Uwe -

Hi, please realize, it is L 58 and not L/58! L/58 is, in my opinion, always post WW II. Regards Uwe -
