EK 1939 L/56 EKII for consideration...
robert pierce posted a topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Hello all, Just in is this nice example of a hard-to-find 'L/56' Frunke & Brunninghaus EKII. It meaures 44.12 mm wide, 44.16mm tall. The ribbon ring, being small in dia., is 12.75mm outside dia., 1.68mm dia. wire. The frame is humped for the jump ring as Junckers, W&L's and others. The core and frame detailing matches it's EKI counterpart. Enjoy the photos... Robert -
This is very interesting Douglas. The views from the top showing the pins are very revealing, the design in it's infancy. Geeat work as usual! Robert

Please, I'd like to ask a question to educate myself on a subject. Did the 'heavy' Zimmermann DK's have the same die flaw on the star burst as the 'light' did? Did the flaw occur while the heavy version was still being produced, lending some of the earlier crosses to be made without the flaw? Or was the flaw always present in the die from the beginning? Hi all, I bought this tunic last summer, and finally got around to putting it on a torso mount just last night. Well, I thought I'd show it off a little. I haven't gotten around to downsizing any other photos of it yet, but will in time if anyone is interested. It's pretty straight, other than two or three moth nips on the back side and under one arm. The left sleeve, on the inside is worn down to the nap from wear, presumably from rubbing against the badges. Dressed with it's badges it's a handsome piece. I neede to work on editing my photos a little - get a better focus... Robert

Heer Heer Flak Unknown Maker

This is an area I would really like to see studies and discussed. I have a great interest in the flak badges, both Heer and Luftwaffe. Here are some photos of your badge, I believe, from Mickael Tucker's book, pages 162-3... Robert -
Heer Heer Flak Unknown Maker
robert pierce replied to Steve K.'s topic in Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
This very badge is on page 162-3 in Mickael Tucker's book, and marked 'F&BL'. I know it's always been known as the 'unknown maker', and this marking is new to me too, but perhaps it's a clue as to who originally made it. Some say the mark could have been a distribution mark, stamped on the badge after production. But my argument to this is, have you ever tried to stamp a zinc badge? A tombak yes, being nonferrous metal. But zinc, it will break, crack. The zinc badge in the book is stamped 'F&BL'. If you don't have the book, Mickael gave me permission to post a photo at will. Heer Heeres Flak Badge
robert pierce replied to Jan Arne S's topic in Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
It is still a very nice badge with nice hardware, and rare to find today. I hope to be lucky enough to find one in such condition. It's very nice. Aurich made a nicely-detailed flak badge, I can see. Thanks for sharing, Jan. Robert Pierce -
Hi Darrell, Very nice cased engraved Bronze Star. SF-180 form will give you his partial records from St. Louis, which include other decoration/campaign medals won during the war. I'm sure you're aware of this, but if not I can give you the link to the form. Robert

Hi all... Could someone please post a photo of a blue Luftwaffe tropical enlisted web belt with buckle? Were they actually blue? I heard it was against regulation for a tan tropical web belt to be worn with a blue tropical tunic, such as the tropical flak tunic. I assume the blue Luftwaffe buckle was worn with the blue web belt.??? Robert

Often enough. I have three Souval EKII's, only one stamped. Robert -
EK 1939 EK2 Non Magnetic Core. Opinions?

Of course most novices get confused with Souval's 98's, and read them upsidedown, thinking they've found an '86', I have yet to see or hear of any marked '86' Paulmann & Crone. I don't think they exist, Steve. All I have to play by are the two packets these two crosses defiantely came in, and from WWII German vets themselves. That settles it for me. I saw one other Paulmann & Crone on the Collector's Guild months ago. Robert
