EK 1914 1914 EK2 "Silber"
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
When I remember right they stamped "Silber" when the silver content wasn't high enough to stamp it with the "real" silver markings. That is what I've been told....... Micha -

EK 1914 1914 EK2 "Silber"
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Yes,ebay this time.....not a bargain but less than a "JWS"-strange world,it's much harder to find than a JWS! Micha -
@Militaria08/15-So what is wrong if someone is buying a wrecked Spange to bring it back to it's original look? A forum lives from the people who are posting their stuff to discuss it-I don't know what your collecting field is(when I have understand your writing in the other thread right you are in bavarian medals?).Maybe it would be nice if you could post something to show the rights and the wrongs! Show us the traps and the dangers, that would be constructiv.....I'm an iron cross collector, but I like the Baden Spange-and even when it's a "put together",the ribbons are right, the medals are right and I like it! When dreams come true....this little beauty dropped in today-one of these wonderful iron crosses with blued sheetmetal core! I can't remember how long I was searching for one of them-the last one at ebay was bought by a guy named "Funkjoker"-wasted time to bid against him...... Anyway, here it is-rare as Hens teeth, unfortunately with a little rust but good enough to keep it in my collection! For me a highlight this year! Micha

EK 1914 New EK2 LV 29?
Motorhead replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Steve,I don't think a complete list with all 2nd class makers exist. The "LV" are an own collecting field......no,I haven't got one with a 29,but I know a lot of different variations(shame on me they are not in my collection). They are interesting crosses,so forget about the list and try to find the others! EK 1939 EKI - what do you think?
Motorhead replied to Troy Tempest's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Simply a bad fake. Save your money! Micha -
What can I say....no-I haven't seen this style of numbers before,no-I haven't seen a "48" stamped W&L before! But I also have seen a "85" stamped W&L EK2.........but here's the question again-real or post war added? I think Dietrich has posted an old list of EK manufacturers with a lot of "new" makers on it(in the sense of not seen with their Pr?sidialkanzlei numbers on the ribbon rings). This EK will keep me busy for a while,I think! Micha

The ring is unbroken. The patina in the stamping shows the same age like the ring......but yes,I also would like to see another 48 marked EK2.So some doubts will be left.I will keep it in my collection together with a big question mark. Micha

Something new in my collection-this nice "48" maker marked EK2 (Richard Feix/Gablonz).It looks like that this one is a bit harder to find as it isn't listed in the WAF statistics. But as you can see the hardware is W?chtler&Lange.A legit question would be-has Feix bought from W&L or is the stamping much younger than the cross? What do you think? Micha

EK 1939 1939 EK2 mm "132"
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
"132" is not the most common maker but far away to be really rare.I would place him in the middlefield. It looks like that all stampings by this company are a bit unclear-you have to hold the ring in an angle to see it clearly.....this pic was the best I could get out of my camera, sorry! Micha -

EK 1939 Some additional EK2's
Motorhead replied to Richard Gordon's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I agree with Joe,they are really beautiful-it looks like it's easier to identify an unmarked 1914 2nd class than one of the '39 species.....I tried but no match, sorry! Micha -
EK 1914 EK2 Maker markings-Help needed.
Motorhead replied to andy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
That's a "K.A.G." round crown type. Turn the pic 180 degrees and you will see it.The bottom of the "G" is cutt off. Micha -
EK 1914 Yet another EK1 screwback for review
Motorhead replied to andy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
The first one is not an awarded piece in the sense that it is a private purchase. To the time frame-we know that the ugliest crosses where made in the late 1920ies-this one isn't that bad quality, but it doesn't have the style of the veterans pieces made between '39 and '45. Micha -
Nice piece with a "customised" clamshell-is the core magnetic? Micha
