    1. Thanks Hunyadi, Rick, sorry that's the only photo that was posted, I'm not even sure if it is on a uniform or not. The original post was way back in 2006 (Sov-awards), the query being the diagonal black looking stripe on red ribbon. A new post in the thread mentioned the fact that different branches had various colours of ribbon on the same medal, however I couldn't find a matching one like this. Thanks again , Regards Eddie
    2. Gordon, Hunyadi and fellow members, I wonder if you could help with this query on the colour of a ribbon. Shown below, is first of all the image from Gordon of the Medal in question. This has the Police, Border Guards and Military Police version of the ribbon. The second image shows the same medal with a different ribbon along with an Order of Labour Merit. Any idea which branch of service this ribbon denotes? Thanks in advance, regards Eddie
    3. Chally II looking rather weathered. Regards Eddie

    11. Showa Enthronement Medal ("Hirohito Banzai Medal") This medal commemorates the enthromenent of Showa emperor (know to Europeans as Hirohito) in 1928, that took place in the ancient capital of Kyoto. It was awarded to those who participated in enthronement acts in the same way as the earlier Taisho enthronement medal. Imperial Edict No. 188 of 1 August 1928 established the award. The medal is 30 mm. in diameter and made of silver. The obverse has a gilt chrysanthemum crest attached to the center of ghe Imperial throne. At each side there is a Chinese cloud symbolizing good fortune. Below there are the "Banzai!" characters. Around the edge there are blossoms of cherry and mandarine oranges. Reverse shows a vertical banner with the inscription "Grand Enthronement Commemorative medal" and the characters "Showa 3rd year 11th month" below. Different dies were used, as some medals have a deeper relief than others. Medal is suspended by a swivel grip and ring. Ribbon is 36 mm. watered silk with five purple, white, red, yellow and green stripes. Case is of purple cardboard with a gilt inscription. CO Xavier Berdaguer

    15. Brian, A little more info here: http://firstworldwar.cloudworth.com/local/7463.html "The historic reminder of Inglis's bravery is being auctioned at Spink's in London, together with his campaign medals and a picture of the crippled "Creme de Menthe" advancing towards the enemy". Regards Eddie

    17. There you go Brian, it's Cr?me-de-Menthe without a doubt. Many thanks to Centurion and Rhomboid. Input from landships WWI: I think this tank is 721 - C5 "Creme de Menthe". Frederick Bovill took a number of photos of the tank on 15/9/16. The photos below shows the same tank, taken at the same time. Notice the shape of the camo markings on the side. Regards Eddie.
    18. Not 100%, but after doing a little magic on the photo it looks like C5 in the red boxed area. That would mean its C5 Cr?me-de-Menthe, C Company of the Heavy Section, Machine Gun Corps at the Somme 1916. Regards Eddie
    19. Thanks Brian, I took the liberty of posting it already , the first input can be seen in post #4: As you say not much to go on. It seems to be a Mk I Male (Long 6 pounders, camo'd sides, full width cab) - so most likely late 1916 early 1917 Regards Eddie.
