  1. Hi attached is my EK11 1870, made by Wagner. Attached to it are these strange 25th anniversary oakleaves. These are completely different from the normal ones. Does anyone know if these are a different type or a totally spurious attachment? the oakleaves do appear to contemporary and made by a manufacturer who made medals of the period. purely for display purposes, they are attached to a newer piece of ribbon, the original is however shown. any help appreciated thanks Alex
  2. BTW sorry for spelling your name wrong Hunyadi! regards
  3. Thanks for the info, particularly on the stampings and maker regards Alex
  4. Hi Hunyady, the medal and ribbon came together when I bought the piece in 1987 ?14 UKP regards I assume they belonged together
  5. Hi guys thanks for the quick respnses, I must admit that I believed it to be a copy due to the zinc (Non silver) manufacture, I have not seen a silver version of this so far. I will keep an eye open. It is pleasant to note that there is so much knowledge out there that can help the unwary/new guy who sees something they like and buys it on the spur of the moment, hoping its a regular piece thanks regards alex
  6. kevin just for clarification, should I be looking for this ribbon but with the KD swords attached thanks
  7. asking the experts again, what this is, I think my copy is a cheap fake, the edges have file marks, even though I suspect the ribbon might be contemporary thanks
  8. Any experts identify what the stamps mean on my Signum Laudis?
  9. hi sorry for sticking my nose in this thread, but would this be the wartime ribbon for the Signum Laudis? regards
  10. Hi all, I have in my collection the following MVK with KD. It all came like this. I have however noticed the MVK with a different ribbon, is this the correct ribbon for this award with the KD attachment. The case does say KD although the lettering is quite faded. any help appreciated regards Alex
  11. Hi, attached is an example of a rarther odd KWK11, compared with a known original. This was posted by me a while back on the AHF forum, the consensus is that its a fake. My question is if it is a fake, did the fakers really screw up? . I would have thought that if they were going to fake the piece they could at least get it to resemble an actual award. It's not a casting but die struck and is completely flat. A second one subsequently turned up from a forum member in Canada, together with the same piece of (Incorrect) ribbon. sorry about the scan, but the real one doesn't actually look like that colour any comments Regards
  12. Congratulations, a most interesting and informative post regards Alex
  13. Hi gentlemen thats the correct number, so my understanding is that it's pre 1945 and not a Panasiuk post war replacement. Thanks for the information, most helpful regards
  14. Hi Leigh thanks for the links, the first site photo's although small seem to suggest that it is a pre-war original, but I'm sure someone will correct me!! regards Alex
  15. I have in my collection an example of the Polish order Virtuti Militari, 5th class; I have always considered this to be an authentic piece. Some basic research indicates that this award is in fact is rare, if totally pre war original. Does anyone know if this is a pre-war original or post war Panasiuk replacement for an original, and if it is, does that make it a fake? thanks .
  16. Hi These are displayed at the RAF Museum at Hendon London together with uniform and other awards attached regards
  17. joe agree entirely, from what I've experienced ww11 rattlers are invariably early pieces when quality control or the tight regulations of the LDO weren't about. attached the early W & L 100 stamped ek11
  18. hi gentlemen, and firstly a thanks to Kev in Deva for introducing myself and my EK1 to the forum. As explained, I have had this for a number of years and unfortunately the pictures really don't do it justice in terms of quality and workmanship, I thought personally that I'd not seen one before but delving into the old memory cells, I recall downloading a photo (For research purposes only!) a photo last year from a dealers web site unfortunately can't remember which. I honestly thought that mine was a Jewellers one-off piece, as can be seen from the attached it's not so there must be more out there, although maybe few and far between, it really is a piece of jewellery. Thanks regards Alex
  19. Hi, Actually I have two genuine EK11 39-45 which do rattle 1 is made by Wahtler & Lange and the other one excapes me for the moment, both are genuine. The W& L one is an early war piece, possibly before the LDO got in there, I don't know regards Alex
