    1. Hi Norm...yes you're right the scan with the red arrows highlight's what's wrong with this shield and yes, the wreath should sit firmly at the bottom of the crossbar. Deumer produced 2 types, this one's the later version with the 'filled in' shoulders. Check this thread out.. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=17606&hl=Narvik&st=20 KR...Peter
    2. Hi....sorry to say this one's a copy of the Deumer shield. Notice the gap between the wreath and the bottom of the crossbar where on originals the wreath sits at the bottom of the crossbar as below. Hope that helps.....Peter
    3. Hi Tim....nice to see you over here. There are a few shield collectors over here. All the best....Peter
    4. Hi Gordon...thanks for the comments...here's a couple more pics. I think the stiffener is the cardboard type. KR..Peter
    5. Hi all...I thought I'd post up my latest edition for some opinions. Non-removable top but looks to me like an early quality cap. KR...Peter
    6. Looking forward to it Gordon...I've just bought ' Torpedo Los' and haven't put it down yet. Best...Peter
    7. Nice tally's guys....my meager collection below...Peter
    8. Hi Gordon, thanks for the positive replies everyone ...The stiffener I'd describe as a grey crisscross hard material(not pasteboard IMO). I think Lutz was one of the survivor's and went into captivity 30.07.43 (I assume in the US) so maybe this cap may have been a field promotion on an earlier patrol...then left at home or on the base, hence the condition and why it's surfaced now. Michel....you're right, not textbook but pleased this one's a nice original. Best...Peter
    9. Thanks for the replies....The cap along with other items came from his estate, now sadly broken up. I've enclosed some more photo's. Peter

    12. Hi All....Just picked up this NCO U-boat cap named to Ernst Lutz from the U591.Note the scalloped Brass field upgrade. Any opinions on the cap appreciated. Best...Peter http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2009/post-3147-125219352219.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2009/post-3147-12521935439.jpg
    13. Hi Justin...you're right both shields by Juncker. The LW's Buntmetal and the KM Version should be Cupal. This KM's Zinc. I think the LW cloth is postwar applied. This Narvik thread just keeps on rolling... All the best.....Peter
