I found out some more He was titled Kaufmann in 1935 when he got his EhrenKreuz füf Frontkämpfer (well earned) Then I found him in the Hamburg Phone book All the way from 1920s to 1941 .... then he is lost from the phone book until 1949 !! Maybe he was in Soviet as a POW 1945-1949 ? the search goes on

I have search the Internet for more info about Hr arnold Kuschel and I found some :jumping: It took me two years but now I have most of his military career Born in Hamburg April 26th 1897 he started the war as Kriegsfreiwilliger in 1914 only 17 years old in Inf Rgt 128 Then after only just entered the war he was reported Vermisst (missing in Action) 3rd Jan 1915 i Danzig Langfuhr. As we now he survived the War so he must have been found wounded for the first time. In August 1915 Arnold Kuschel was Unteroffizier in 6 Komp and 23rd August 1915 he was wounded for the second time now at Dollstädt (East Prussia) Another War year goes by and we Find Arnold as Vizefeldwebel in 8 Komp , and again at 4th December 1916 he was wounded for the third time also at the Dollstädt area. With three wounds he would have been awarded a woundbadge in Silber if that had been instituted in 1916, but our young hero went on fighting and in 24th March 1917 he got he 4th wound, this time light wounded says the archive....... Hes promotion to LtdR was gazetted in Militär Wochenblatt 31 Aug 1918 but already in beginning of July when he got his woundbadge in Gold for 5 wounds he was written as LtdR Arnold Kuschel. So he must have been wounde a 5th time between March 1917 and Summer 1918 ( why am I not suprised ) But the top of the story is the Document from December 1942 where he is adressed as Hauptmann Z V Arnold Kuschel belonging to Gren Erz Btl 492. So he was in the second World War and when the doc was written he was in Hospital !! Wounded for what time ?? I havent found him in any grave register from WW II so I guess he survived even that. If anyone have or know of a Rgt story for Inf Rgt 128 I would be super pleased to find it . Some stories is just better than movies and fiction Christer

I found this Photo on the net , from a German Museum . It shows that Lt von Essen also had the Bar on his OF II so probably not him either. This leaves the suspects to: Lt Franz Smits IR 161 ( had HHOx) Lt Georg Röver RIR 74 ( had HHOx) Lt Karl Giese RIR 17 (A Bavarian Rgt , probably not) Lt Reinhard Murken RIR 79 ( HHOx ? ) Lt edvard Gesell Pio Komp 186 (HHOx ? ) Lt Friedrichssen RFA 17 (no HHOx ? ) Lt Siegfried Harms Fus Rgt 86 ( HHOx ? ) Lt Wegmann RIR 229 ( HHOx ? ) Lt Thien FAR 62 (no HHOx ? ) So I now have 9 suspects , but Three of these is less probably so 6 one with two "Hot" ones Lt Georg Röver RIR 74 and Lt Franz Smits IR 161 The search goes on ! Yes I think this is a perfect good one I have almost all of the names for 3rd class wo swords 1918 but missing this one so its great to find a unknown one. I only had one German with 3rd class Non combat earlier and thats Edgar Alfred Jung who was an Attaché in Finland. Nice find

People seems to have to much money I have seen ¨collectors¨ that buy anything at any price , just because they can And I would probably do the same if I could afford it. Why not 25 RKs or a Ferrari from 1954 or a Yacht for 40 000 000 $, The sky is for sure the limit Just love to find a buyer as this when I sell something next :love:

Thanks Detlef, Yes the paperwork looks perfectly alright to me , and the 14 JägerBtl was in Finland 1918 so everything seems to match up exept the name Grössle and why he got a NC Liberty cross ?? But it was a turbulent time and a lot of strange things happened. Christer

Very strange bar , The Liberty Cross should be before the Com Medal and it is unusual with a Non combat Cross with EKII and combat Hindenburg Cross. Where is this auction ? It would be very interesting to see the paperwork , since third class indicate an officer. Weird is the name Christer

Does anyone know anything about this postcard serie ? How many are there in the serie and when where they printed ? They are quite fantastic portraits of Generals and similar from Germany and K.U.K Made by the firm STENGEL in Dresden , they are numbered 49123 - 49247 but i don´t know when its starts or stops I have about 20 of them. Interesting Medal bar Detlef, and I agree with Nick, it´s totally possible that a German soldier got two Finnish Bravery medals in 1918 not often but it happened, I can´t say anything about the medal bar if its fake or not but the combo is possible. The lack of the 1918 Memorial medal is not proof of a fake , because I seen a lot of German medal and ribbon bars lacking this medal. I think many German soldiers that where entitled to one never got it. Christer

Here is a famous ship, maybe not as victim but the Submarine who sank her ! Mv Korshamn 6755 brt was built in 1920 by Harland & Wolff for Elder Line but was bought by Glen Line Ltd and naned Glenluce. in 1938 she was bought by Jamaica Line and renamed Korshamn. She was a part of Convoy HX 112 when she was torpedoed and sunk the night 16/17 March 1941 by U 99 under command of Otto Kretschmer ^Silent Otto^ one of the greatest U boat commanders of WWII, hes U 99 was itself sunk the 17th March, but Kretschmer survived and become later FlottillenAdmiral in BundesMarine. He died 1998, 57 years after the sinking of MV Korshamn....
