    2. :jumping: Fantastic Rick ! 1500 $ for that I thought I have seen all...... But I wonder, did the F?hrer himself get an award cert? Or did he just get the medal without any paperwork Have a nice weekend all Christer
    3. And what did the postman bring me today Yep, another one, this is a never ending story..... SS Salsette from the P & O Line built in 1908 a very nice ship. On this card in Aden Harbour. She was transporting people from London to Amsterdam, St Petersburg, Stockholm all over. And in July 1917 she was going for Egypt and Australia when she was torpedoed in Lyme bay by German Sub UB 40 15 people followed her down. The only positive is that the wreck now is a popular diving site. Christer
    4. I realize this photo is a little bit in the outskirts of my collecting area, but I thought i was such a interesting pic so I wanted to show you this. The photo shows some survivors from a "torpedoed" ship I cant be sure that the ship was indeed torpedoed, but i might have been. and they are rescued by a German Sub !! Sorry to say I haven?t a clue to what ship they belonged to One more to my "Torpedoed Ships 1914-1945" collection Have a nice summer all Christer
    5. And here another ship, an Italian for a change SS Conte Rosso a beautiful ship built in Glasgow in early 1920s. She first trafficed the route Italy-New York and later Italiy - South America But in May 1941 she ran out of luck, she was transporting troops for the Italian Army when the british Submarine HMS Upholder torpedoed her outside Sicily about 1300 people was killed when she sank. Christer
    6. Thanks Chuck ! That was acompletely new one for me , one of the worst disasters and I havent read about it There is a lot the learn about ships for true. Well here is two more, both really awful disasters and both caused by not "the usually suspects" First what I think is the worst US sea loss in WW2 ? Correct me if I am wrong The USS Indianapolis, a Heavy class cruiser from 1932. She was the flagship of the fifth fleet and was fighting at Iwo Jima.In March 1945 she was hit by a Kamikaze, but later in July 1945 she delivered parts for the first Atomic Bomb. In July 30th 1945 she was torpedoed by Japanese sub I-58 and sunk. Only 317 of her 1200 men crew survived the sea and sharks. This photo is signed by one of thosse survivors Ed Harell who was a U.S. Marine serving on USS Indianapolis. A cruel story in the dawn of second world war. Christer
    7. The Husband in the Gabrovska family look like could take on a complete Panzerdivision on himself and win...... Interesting to see the screwback orders issued as late as 1973, this is the only way to see about when the change the types. Of course they probably awarded earlier types for some time after the newer types was made. Very nice group ! And both where partisans, maybe he looked less angry then? Christer
    8. If you have seen my tiny collection with postcards and photos in collector showcase of ships that have been torpedoed you understand I am interested in submarines and related photos. So here a new photo in my collection of German Submarine Photos. Sure one of the most famous Commanders Korvettenkapit?n Reinhard Hardegen The boats under his command sank 21 ships and one warship making it total of 22 ships (he damaged 5 more) He have the EK II 1940 U boat war Badge 1940 EK I 1941 RK 1942 RK w oak Leaves 1942 U boat war badge w Diamonds 1942 This photo shows him with a Army officer? and some exited girls probably in 1942 He have just returned from a patrol and a quite long one if you see his beard When you look at the clothes I would guess this is early May 1942 in Lorient France, he has been out with U 123 on patrol for 62 days and sank 8 ships and damaged three more. I wonder why this Army officer was greeting him? Christer
    9. Another card in my tiny collection ! This is the SS Caledonia built by D & W Henderson Ltd Glasgow in 1904-05 for the Anchor Line (Henderson Bros.), Glasgow She was used on the line Glasgow- New York August 1914 requisitioned as a troop ship. On December 4th, 1916 sunk by U65 125 miles East by South of Malta. Loss of 1 life Christer
    10. The First one is ten years of service for an NCO and this one is Military Merit VI class for NCO
    11. And here is the two Bulgarian medals to make this small group complete It did cost me ? of a USSR Red Banner , but it was worth it I think Christer
    12. Now my medal has arrived and it so It is an Bulgarian Group to an NCO, and the funny thing is that I was looking for Bulgarian medals and found the two other Bulgarian ones and got this one as a odd geman one. I dindn?t even know what it was.... And now I fall in love This small group has a lot of character and I wonder if there is any chance to find out how many was awarded to the quite small Bulgarian Army in First World War? Christer
    13. This is a new one in the forum I think? The Bulgarian "forum" is growing fast Dimitrov Communist Youth Organization You could join at the age of 14 and this young kid was just 14 when he joined the organization in 1987 He payed the membership fee for all 1988 but then it stopped I wonder what hes doing today? would be 35 years old now. This book is numbered serie B 443245 and I have another with nr serie A 077895 from 1971 so I suppose the have quite a lot of members? 1.5 Millions?? Christer
    14. Super Group Rick ! I love when there is a whole collection of papers/medals to the same people ! It is like a small collection on its own. All the best from Sweden Christer
    15. And at last a closeup on the backside taken with a no-Epson scanner (sorry Rick) you can see the engraving 1ct Anyone got a silver and bronce class out there?? Christer
    16. And here is the document with the backside of the badge, far from gold but some guilded metal? There is some numbers in the book but I dont know what they really means Nr 134 and 97 - 1978 Number 97 awarded in 1978 ? and the 134 is the doc nr?? always more to find out Christer
    17. Here is another Sports Badge witj the extreme long name First Class Badge for Outstanding Contribution in Fitnes and Sport wow ! The first type of Theese was according to D Reimers bokk made of Gold! Quite unusual to have a sports Badge/medal made of Gold. The Earlier Gold issues was awarded in Three classes but everyone was gold, they just had the class engraved. Theese later issued ones is still very well done and have beutiful boxes, and the class handengraved on the backside. I wonder how many of theese badges that was awarded, I think they are among the higher rated ones in the area of Sports/Fitness ? Firts the coimplete set with box, doc and medal/badge Christer
    18. And the inside of the booklet, awarded to a Woman , I will not try to say her name with my bad language skills Christer
    19. Here is my set of this medal, I wonder why we see so few of theese??? Mine is awarded in 1984 , ten years after the first issue but I seldom see theese medals with booklets so I assume there wasn?t many awarded? Christer
    20. Here is another of theese "Titles" Trade Union Title : Activist of Communist Labor From what I could read theese was awarded buy the Trade Union in three classes Bronce, Silver and like here Gold Quite heavy and well done badge. With a thick booklet awarded in 1964 Christer
