    1. Finally, the curvature of the badge. Again, sorry for the quality of the photos! Cheers, James
    2. I?m not sure if this is contributing much to this conversation, but here is another Deumer/Junker para badges. Here is one with the Junker clipped toe eagle. The badge has a blackened/burnished wreath, brass eagle, and is heaviest para badge I?ve owned. Sorry, I don?t have the weight on it! Sorry for the bad photos! Cheers, James
    3. Hi Chris, What number are your wings? I'd be interested in seeing them! Cheers, James
    4. Hi Chris, They are numbered 193. Yes, they were issued, to a Trooper Roger Nyoni. I have a set of numbered and unissued and un-numbered unissued. The beret is named to a scout as well! Cheers, James
    5. No takers, eh! Well some of the Scouts items look like this, in case you have some lying around and not know what it is!!! Cheers, James
    6. Laurence, So you've got Newfie in you too....that explains a lot!!! I'm at work and it's only 5 hours from home!! Rick, thanks for that. I too found that info, but was hoping that there is something more. I'll keep digging! Cheers, James
    7. Hi Laurence, Long time no talk to! I have his military personal records, but I was hoping to find out about the actions of the ship and what he was doing on it. The problems with records like his are, although he was in the Royal Navy, by way of the Royal Newfoundland Naval Reserve. After 1949, his records were given to the Canadian Government. Getting the info from them was a dog and pony show in itself. Are there any sites that deal with ships histories? Cheers, James
    8. Laurence, If you get tired of it, it would look nice with the RCAF escape button I have!!! Cheers, James
    9. Rick, Thanks for the reply! I?m after information on a ship my Grandfather served on and his role on it. It is the HMS Prince Edward. It was a paddle steamer that was brought into use by the Royal Navy in around 1916. The basics I know about it is that it was on antisubmarine net laying duties in the English Channel, off Belgium, and in the Dardanelles. Most of the other ships he is listed for in his pay book are mainly shore establishments, so I doubt anything can be obtained about what he did there. Any ideas out there? Cheers, James
    10. Don?t engrave the pieces, you?ve just altered it, for the worse, if you do. If a family member is going to sell the pieces and split up the group, marking the pieces won?t make a bit of difference. They?ll be sold none the less. If you ?LOAN? the items to a museum, they ?can?t? sell the pieces as they are still yours! Mind you, trying to get the pieces back from them after the person who loaned the items has died, is extremely hard, if not impossible. That has to be laid out in the paperwork when the museum takes them on!! Also, the family can see the items anytime they want and there is no bickering about who should have sole possession of them! Cheers, James
    11. Is there any sort of reference that lists Royal Navy ships crews, and, deployments for the ships? Cheers, James
    12. They?re a well made, sturdy pistol. I put a few rounds down range with these when I was still in the army. Some people think you need a larger calibre, but the 9mm does the job! The ammunition won?t be cheap! Cheers, James
    13. Are there any members here who have any items for the Rhodesian Selous Scouts? I've started to dabble in their material, but would like to see what others might have! Cheers, James
    14. Chris, As far as I know, they were awarded the War Medal 1939-45. Cheers, James
