Hello. I believe it is original in bronze class (definitely not gold). I don't follow these that closely but I do not believe this one is a Deumer. Maybe S&L? Rich

Scott Yes and no. It's in a photo-box and taken during the day near a window but there is also a small lamp to the right to give a little bit extra. Rich

Barry/J T-W/Jan Arne Thanks for the comments. I don't know why but the pic on my PC is much sharper. It must get compressed when uploaded or something. My camera is old-hat these days, a 4Mp Olympus. I don't think the age of the camera matters that much, more the flexibility it allows and the users ability/understanding of how to use it. To be honest, it's often luck on my part. I have an idea of how to get what I want but it often involves many attempts at lighting and settings! Rich

Here's a Deumer with Juncker parts.

Yes, #8 does seem to show surplus solder in the ground out section to the right. Could have been the original weld was considered too weak or perhaps cracked and had to be resoldered. Agreed, could go either way. Here's the catch on my Deumer FJ. Some excess solder but definitely not a repair.

As I don't see any solder on the ground out section in the middle of the hinge I assume just a sloppy soldering job but would like to see a close-up just to be sure. All my Deumers have been neat in those areas. Rich

Now you mention it, that does ring a bell. I think the KIA was awarded the SCiG and the Next of Kin cross also awarded. But my main question was did every member of the Legion Condor receive the Spanish Cross? Rich

Apart from my first findings, I can't see anything wrong either

Just measured mine and the dimensions are the same.

The badge on the right raises only 2 conserns for me: 1) the finish; Both on the eagle and on the wreath 2) the pin catch; while it follows the correct style, it is not quite right. I only have 1 GWL flight badge (pilot) but the one on the left matches it in every way, including the catch. I would only expect to see variation in the rivets and maker-mark (i.e. the intensity of the break in the ring) If I were looking for a GWL pilot, the one on the right would not be for me. I would only consider, in this case, the text-book one. These are only my opinions. To further analyse the example on the right, you should also check dimensions in case it's a good casting using an original as a mold. It could well be an original that may have been corroded, then cleaned up and re-finished. Rich
