    1. I believe this is the signature of Gerhard Bassenge, but I am not 100% certain. I have been unable to locate any other samples of Bassenge's signature to compare with. The document has been posted here and on WAF but no one has confirmed it. Thanks for any assistance. Best regards, Tom
    2. Thank you for posting this wonderful grouping of a very brave man. I hope that it will remain with your family and be treasured always. Best regards, Tom
    3. Hi guys, Here is another bar that I brought home with me from the recent SOS. I have always had an affinity for TR police medal bars, so it is hard to resist buying them. I hope I am not polluting the Imperial section with this bar, but it does have a couple of Imperial decorations on it. The Baden Silver Merit Medal looks to be the early type in genuine silver and it is black with tarnish. Best regards, Tom
    4. Hello guys, Here is a Saxon Officer's five-placer from the recent SOS. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I like it because it is super clean. Hope you like it too. The SA3bX is by Glaser & Sohn of Dresden. Best regards, Tom
    5. Here are some closer views of the signature. Gerhard Bassenge was a pilot in WW1 with seven aerial victories. Is this his signature? Thank you, Tom
    6. Here is a document for the Luftwaffe 4-Year Long Service Medal. I believe this one is signed by Gerhard Bassenge, but I am not certain. Can someone please confirm this signature? Thank you and best regards, Tom
    7. Hello guys, This one is pretty immaculate looking. A strange combination of Orders & Decorations too. Best regards, Tom
    8. Hi Dean, It's a really beautiful medal bar. I think WNickel is telling you that this bar belonged to Oberstleutnant außer Dienst Baron von Sartor auf Gansheim. Congratulations! Best regards, Tom
    9. Hello guys, Here is a medal bar that I just got today. It features a non-combatant EK2, Bavarian MVO4, and Hindenburg Cross. I'm thinking that because of the presence these decorations/orders, plus the 1922-34 Red Cross Decoration, that this bar most likely belonged to a doctor. Does anyone have any other opinions about this? Hope you like it! Thank you & best regards, Tom
    10. Hello Dave, That is very interesting. Thank you for your valuable insight into this unusual medal bar. So that is definitely an Order of Albert the Bear-Knight's 1st? I also figured it was a Knight's 1st, as I thought the Knight's 2nd were always silver. Then Nimmergut's book confused the hell out of me as he shows Knight's 2nd that are "vergoldet". Is there any size difference between the Knight's 1st and 2nd? Thank you & best regards, Tom
    11. Listed here as an Officer of the Bekleidungsämter, now a Major with a d.o.r. of August 25, 1913:
    12. This rank listing shows him as a Hauptmann in the 6. Infanterie-Regiment with a date of rank of October 27, 1906:
    13. Hello guys, Thanks to all for the comments. I apologize as I did get the name spelling wrong. It is Major Friedrich Sauter. It looked like an 'e' on the handwritten tag that was attached to the medal bar. Paul C was most kind to send me a cd with additional info on Major Sauter that I just received today. (Thanks a whole bunch, Paul!) Here is a page of his service record:
