    1. If this case was the original one, there should be some marks in the shape of the order. Ch.
    2. Ed, They are there!!! As you know, I have photographied all Monty's orders, medals and ribbon bars. Maybe a good idea for a future thread ? Ch.
    3. Hi Dudeman, Good guess, and good beginning !!! What else ? Ch.
    4. OK, let's go!! Question in 5 parts (with easy and less obvious sub-questions) : 1. To whom do belong these orders and medals ? 2. This person has been awarded the Gold Star of Hero of the Soviet Union (HSU) : Why ? 3. Date of the HSU ? 4. Serial Number of the HSU ? 5. Where are today displayed these medals ? Good hunt!!! Cheers. Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    5. Another pic, of the ceremony of 8 May 2005, in Paris. Ch. Pic : Minist?re de la D?fense (France)
    6. Hi Jan, Unfortunately, I don't have this book. I was hesitating buying it, not sure of its real content. But, I think you need it urgently, as you know where to buy it ... Have you tried with the Members of the Soviet Forum ? Ch.
    7. Rick, Congratulations!! A very nice set and a very instructive thread!!! Cheers. Ch.
    8. Hi Kim, I've seen a number of sites dealing with Italians Orders. But, few of them, unfortunately deal with the former Italian orders (cancelled in the 50s). Cheers. Ch.
    9. Tom, What happened to this cross ? Schrapnell traces ? Or a dog ? An interesting story, I'm sure!!! Cheers. Ch.
    10. Hi Kim, Seems to be the "Ordre Souverain Militaire de Saint-Casimir", from Italy. It has been discontinued in 1953, as many other former italian or princes' orders... but that's all I have for the moment. Ch.
    11. Dudeman, Thanks for the precisions. An interesting round that shows that as many sources you have, as many results you get. Exhaustivity is a difficult mission to fulfill... Now, who's turn is it ? Jan, Dudeman again, others ? Any volunteer ? Cheers, and thanks to all!! Ch.
    12. Rick, This is a superb example!!! Great to post it!! Cheers. Ch.
    13. Chris, Thanks for the details. So many things to learn here and there... Cheers. Ch.
    14. I knew that!!! The question is : why wait for 1917 to deliver such a doc dated 1915 ? Ch.
    15. In the examples shown in this thread, it does not imply modifications of the SN, but a different way of wearing them. That's also sometimes the case when the regulations have changed. We can see from times to times Orders of the Red Banner with screwbacks that have been converted lately to be worn with a suspension. It does not diminish their value, far from this... An alteration of the SN is a different story... generally to stay away from... Ch.
    16. Dudeman, For our information, could you tell us who are the authors ? Many thanks in advance. Ch.
    17. Andreas, About Marchenko, it is said he has been awarded, in addition of the Medals For Bravery : * Order of the Patriotic war, 2nd Class * Order of the Red Banner of Labour * Order of the Badge of Honour Of course, this list is not exhaustive... Ch.
    18. Many thanks for the answers. Interesting, as in the Shishkov and Muzalevsky, they indicate the First Sergeant M.G.Marchenko has been awarded 4 medals For Bravery only... but maybe they have forgotten 2 ? And, what is the result concerning the number of medals awartded in total ? 4.569.893 medals awarded is the figure of the Mondvor site. Ch.
    19. Oh, I see . Nice poster !!! Ch. PS : And BTW what's so unsusual ?
    20. Interesting, seems totally hand-written... But the EK seems "curious" . Cheers. Ch.
    21. And, about the bravest soldier; what do you think of the information that he has been awarded this medal 4 times ? Ch.
