Daniel, I don't think it is Busse. As far as I know, he did not have the SMK or the AK. He also had both the RM and the ABsM, so there should be two non-wartime round medals but I only see the one. My best guess is Theodor Kretzschmer. Based on his rank in WW1, I think the BT3b in his Reichsheer rank list entry is wrong, and it should be a BT4b. The Albrecht des Bären is the only problem. He does not have it in the 1914 Prussian Army rank list, nor in the Reichsheer rank lists. The Albrecht des Bären is a house order, however, and could have been awarded at any time in the 1920s or 1930s. It would not have had official status, but we have many examples of Wehrmacht officers wearing other 1920s/1930s-era house orders, from the former rulers of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha and Lippe-Detmold, for example. I'd also note that in the photograph it appears to be a non-swords award, which does not fit its placement after the HOH3X among his wartime awards. Below is the only picture of Kretzschmer I could find.

Given the relative rarity of non-swords awards, even on the "Beamtenband", compared to awards with swords, I agree it's likely the Bavarian MVO had its swords removed.

Their information is incorrect. I have reviewed Arthur-Hemann v. Briesen's HPA file. No Hohenzollern. On the other hand, here is a Wehrmacht general whom we can confirm did have the HOH3X: Siegfried von Rekowski's WW1 decorations, including the HOH3X, are undated in his HPA file. The RFAR 20 officer was likely Gerhard Becker from the reserve of FAR 10, one of RFAR 20's parent regiments. The other Becker from FAR 10, Leo, was killed in action in 1915 as a Hptm.d.R.

Richard Becker was awarded the HOH3X on 9.8.1918 as a Leutnant der Landwehr in Landwehr-Feldartillerie-Regiment 252.

Leutnant d.R. Tauchnitz received the HOH3X on 24.6.1918 while serving in Fliegerabteilung 270 Lb. Unfortunately, there were three Saxon Leutnants d.R. Tauchnitz who served with the Fliegertruppe: Bernhard, Christian (*6.9.1890 in Leipzig-Lößnig) and Stephan (*11.10.1889 in Leipzig, †23.12.1962 in Bad Homburg v.d.H.). I've no idea which one was in FA 270 Lb. Maybe Gunnar can help. Bernhard seems most likely, since he had the SH3. Hptm.a.D. Friedrich Römer in FußAR 12 received the HOH3X on 17.6.1918.

I only know of one China veteran with the MEZ2 who also received the EK2 and AK, and cannot be ruled out because of other known awards, but there may be other candidates. There were hundreds of MEZ2 awards for China. The one candidate I have so far is Hermann Haase, Polizei-Sergeant in Bernburg and in 1916 a Vizefeldwebel d.L. in Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 27, *28.04.1877 in Sandersleben, †10.10.1956 in Bad Hersfeld.

Several posts have been removed because some members need to remember that this is a gentleman's forum and personal attacks are not gentlemanly. Regarding the ribbon bar, though it is possible, I doubt the first ribbon has a hole for a Wiederholungsspange. It's possible a China veteran in his 60s might have gotten the clasp, but unlikely. Also, the hole is off-center compared to the holes on the FEK and DA ribbons. It's not a 100% either way; just my speculation. The missing device on the final ribbon would likely be for a Police DA or a Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen for a civil servant.

There is a Lt.d.R. Lepper who received the HOH3X on 18.05.1918 while serving with Fliegerabteilung 39, gazetted in the MWB on 16.07.1918. I have one Lepper connected to the Fliegertruppe, but his Kriegsrangliste entry ended in 1916. Maybe Gunnar knows whether he was the one in FA 39 in 1918 or if there is another candidate.
