I'll put my request onto this thread. I have recently aquired a couple of NK awards, amongst them was this document. i don't believe it related to the awards I have though. Can someone please translate it so I know what the document is for? Many thanks Brendan

Looks like someone didn't do their homework before they faked it. This 2nd class number range would make it a Border Reverse for a start. Hard to tell anything to much from these scans, they need to be closer of the front, clock tower etc etc. All up I suggest it is a fake going by these photos. Unless you can get better scans for study, I'd steer clear. Brendan

I would take the Glory with the award Booklet. For a start you have a name which makes it readily available for immediate research with Nota Bene. Any Glories with genuine award booklets are worth their weight in gold for the fact they have that identification. Having over a hundred Glories in my collection there are at least a dozen with booklets that have made research easier and quicker. Brendan

I thought that first as well but on close inspection of the steel suspensions they are clear of any rust. Anyway it's likely he cut himself shaving! Brendan

The ribbons pictured are original to the medals. The awardee was not wounded in action so the blood stains on the ribbon are not from him. I believe it to be blood from another person during close combat action. Brendan

From the award card translated at #1 above, from the lack of a serial number, it is also impossible to tell whether this duplicates information on his two known Bravery Medals, or whether he was awarded yet another, possibly unnumbered one.

Hi Miguel first off the award booklet entries are incorrect, in other words fake. Secondly the precedence of the award bar is wrong and yes there is a documented precedence of how soviets awards are mounted. Thirdly it is unlikely, since the award entries are fake, that this group belonged to the same person and only research will tell you that. Fourthly the awards themselves appear genuine but as always it's hard to tell without definitive scans or photos. The award book I scanned for you is from a genuine group with genuine entries. There is a whole topic on award booklets that can blow your mind for the person who is not to experienced in such things. hope this helps. Brendan

Yes, slapped together group with corresponding numbers added into the book (poorly I migh add). It is highly unlikely that they belong to the same person. Brendan

Thankyou all I will post another of my favourite researched Glories or Bravery Medals as I get time. Brendan

As in any artillery battery when on fire missions it is likely he was also doing all this while he himself was underfire from counter battery artillery fire which makes feats such as these all the more remarkable. I have a few researched Glories where communications soldiers were given the award because they repaired x ammount of phone lines and kept the comms open etc etc. To most, these citations are not flashy and appear 'un attractive' to those citations that destroy tanks, kill the enemy etc. To me these are just as impressive considering all these sorts of bravery acts were done under fire or under difficult conditions where the loss of your life was reasonable to expect.

Nice solid group! The 1945 Warsaw document is great, these are few and far between. Also nice 1943 Bravery Medal awarded during the height of the fighting that year. Obviously a well travelled veteran who made it home. Brendan

Thankyou gentlemen, yes an unusual and likely interesting story. I have considered researching the other awards but like most of my collection I get side tracked on having research completed on the actual items I posess. As a matter of fact after my new lot of research comes in I actually decided to research the rest of the awards for this one and another, even though I haven't got the actual awards, but there is a need to complete the full story. Hi all being a new member here I just want to say what a great place to gather knowledge I just would like to share one of my special pieces. Collecting Orders of Glory for sometime now I have quite a few reserached and quite a few more not, but all good things come to those that wait...I hope This piece was interesting because the recipient had engraved his name onto the back of the award, this in itself required the piece to be researched and the story revealed. It turned out that it was awarded to an Armenian from Georgia for actions in Lithuania. Enjoy! Brendan Order Of Glory III Class # 160397 Name: Aramais Pogosyan Military Rank: Senior Sergeant "During the forced crossing of the Neman river, in region of Alitus city of Lithuania, from 14.07.44 to 15.07.44, comrade Pogosyan showed himself as a brave resourceful commander. He provided efficient guidance in carrying equipment ? 45mm cannon and crew. During the capture of Alitus, destroyed German infantry by direct fire. On 19.07.44 while situated in defense in the region of height 169,1 1km westward of Alitus, during the counter attack, put two German tanks out of action."

Yes, a nice set. I have only ever seen one other similar set which was actually being worn by an Arctic Convoy veteran.
