    2. Hi Guys, On the page 50, #2, of Carl Holler's genealogical book we can read, when he describes his medals, that he was awarded with the " kriegsverdienstkreuz mit schwertern" Did you have any idea about that medal, can you have photos for show me? Otto
    3. It's not part of the ID of my grand uncle, but a photo of his father. Can you tell me his rank? The ID I will to search tomorrow, my archives are a true carnival. Otto
    4. Hi Guys, The photo shows my grand uncle ( of my grand mother side ) Friedrich Anna Fr?hling. He was Austrian, from Graz, and he came to Brazil, just after the WWI. He was too from the Spanish School of Chevalry. Can you ID his rank by the photo? I'm growing age, I forgot that I'm using my daughter computer. I will post the pic later. Otto
    5. Hi Rick, Here's some anwsers I got with some friends: "The boots appear to be 1893 pattern side-laced boots worn with some kind of puttees. The jacket looks like a Model 1907 field-gray tunic with Swedish cuffs. That thingummy on the left sleeve is puzzling indeed. Maybe safety pins left over from a bandage or a patched tear in the sleeve?" "My guess is that the sleeve insignia is an unofficial unit identification. I have never seen anything quite like those leggings. They resemble the thin leather of period Russian boots. Too bad we cannot see how they are attached." Otto
