    1. OK, I have been TRYING to make some sense (any sense) of these school diamonds. I have put together some notes (OK, 75 pages of "notes") on these things, trying to get us beyond what Battushig gives us. So far, I have relied mainly on things that live with me, and I have yet to weave in contributions by good forum friends. That will be the next step, together with sending the file off for comment and critique by Those More Expert. In the interim, the preliminary (and BIG, some 4.7 megs) PDF file can be seen at: http://faculty.winthrop.edu/haynese/SchoolDiamonds.pdf Comments begged . . . .
    2. All the foreign awards are -- as is common for the Soviet bottom-row practice -- on incorrect ribbons.
    3. M NIB 02 -- 80 Years of Trade, 1921-2001 A successor to M 10, but no longer "Socialist Trade".
    4. As mine have come from a fellow forumite or similar sources, I really don't know open market value. Sorry.
    5. Ohhhh . . . nice one . . . especially when you realise that "wounded" would likely have been "wounded into many many small pieces" -- doubt if many in his role survived too long
    6. No . . . they're all mine . . . all mine . . . mine . . . my preciousssss(es)! Feel free to post scan, Dave. I wanna see it too.
    7. Pretty much my experience too, even with ticket the ravenous babushka hordes made pictures a hassle (and a half).
    8. Thanks, Tang Si! That must be the rarest of the rare?
    9. Nice photos. You were lucky, as they were very cranky regarding photos when I was there. But most of the medals on display were fake anyway. Lovely building, interesting displays, phoney medals.
    10. V NIB 08 -- VII Shockworker Young Man A variant of V 17, for the 7th Five-Year Plan, 1986-90.
    11. Yep, and the Afghans have, eventually, won these wars (I did not include the invasion of Alexander "the Great", though Afghans would list it too).
