    1. my dad gave me this the other day. i do not know anything about it. it has a curious permanent belt attachment and blade is marked '1900' on one side and 'US'. it kinda looks like a german mauser bayonet. does anyone know exactly what i have?
    2. it's a Kriegerbund vet's organization cross for a municipality. the 1873 denotes the years of this particular group's founding (shortly after the 70-71 war w/fwance). nice looking pin!
    3. hi roman, nice cross! it's hard to tell from the pic, but is the center of the reverse "dished"? i have one like yours (without hooks) and there is a depression behind where the FA on obverse is.
    4. well i used to go to the flohmarkts around frankfurt, wiesbaden, and mainz every saturday starting from when i was 13. and when i attended the uni i frequented all the markts around munich. i saw some amazing stuff including an enigma machine, the ww2 plastic parade helmets (spanish made), random rks, coburg and gau badges, lotsa rare freikorps stuff, the list goes on and on and on. all to pricey for my pocket at that time. i pretty much stuck to eks as that was all i could afford at the time, and i still like them! i have no problem with the internet and the advent of the ever-expanding collector demand vs. the supply. the internet has ultimately given me much more than the effort i have put into it. thanks to people on forums such as this one, the added value has eventually enabled me to become a smarter and more discerning collector. it has enriched the part of my psyche that is a hunter and gatherer (hoarder!). bargains still exist, in an oblique fashion. just have to work/study/search a bit harder, that's all. heh. let's hope they keep getting better and better.
    5. yup; i can remember wen ek1s went for $25 a pop.
    6. ....and I thought I was the only one! (just noticed your thread) wow, man...lotsa cool gear! get that Kriegerehrenzeichen up; i've noticed a distinct lack thereof on this forum. cheers, e
    7. i wouldn't be too hasty. remember--the EARLY ones were magnetic. these were also produced in other types of metal such as brass and 'unedles metall'. also: if memory serves--weren't these also made as '57 pieces? sure it's possible it's fake; they reproduce EVERYTHING these days, it seems.
    8. i was thinking more along the lines of those zinky austrian wound medals or those zinky bavarian mvk examples
    9. yessir, i will pop my trusty green ruler in there and edit in a pic in a mo'. batteries recharging.
