    1. both summer and winter olympics were held in europe this year, but not in germany
    2. this must be the best deal i ever found on the 'net. shipping cost was $3.50.... two times what i paid for the item.
    3. yes, it is a stunning little thing! i realized that i neglected to provide the measurements: 35mm x 20mm.
    4. you guys may want to go up to the imperial iron cross section and check out the 'stone minty fresh ek' thread
    5. i was always under the impression that these 1936 s/b woundbadges were copies, btw. p.s. notice all of that corrosion on the disc? well, the disc seems to be coated with some type of laquer that is having a bad reaction with the metal. hmmmm.
    6. here is an image of the obverse. how does it compare to your k.m. w/b? any similarities?
    7. i will try to find my silver "1936" s/b woundbadge in order to compare discs, etc. i'm pretty sure it is identical to the disc on your example. i realize that it might not turn out, but it would be neat if one could establish a link between the k.m.s.t. maker and these 'mystery' screwback wound badges that no one seems to know very much about. i know i have one, but the question is......where did i put it!
    8. Veteran, you have definitely provided a very knowledgeable commentary to accompany each of the pieces in my small collection. i think i can speak for anyone who reads this thread when i say that your insights have positively enhanced the viewing experience. i have had these items for a very long time, but since they are in a separate field from my collecting interests, i never pursued the information behind them completely. only after joining this forum a short time ago and noticing the depth of knowledge being displayed here did i decide to display these items in hopes of an accurate description. Veteran and Hendrik, thanks again! p.s. i will post the final item in my rather limited L d'H collection as soon as it is returned to me (it is loaned to a friend at this moment).
    9. hmmmm,ok, random thought #9789: i wonder if k.m.s.t. had anything to do with those 'condor legion' screwback wound badges that everyone has gone back and forth about for years..... you never know! will have to find my 'c.l.' example in order to compare design characteristics with your k.m. s/b, micha p.s. the only marks on the ek are the double stamped silver marks.
    10. so i guess your buddy is a pretty big iron cross collector
    11. true, very true. well, it has six or seven different types of bullion wire on it-- never know when a nice period pic will pop up (for any one of the items shown on this thread), so back into storage it goes!
    12. thank you very much, greg! i am still working my way back thru all of the threads on this forum and have noticed that you have some exceptional items. i also remember you from the WAF
    13. What do you think about that Stahlhelm badge mark? DWS in a triangle? Can you make out anything remotely similar inside your triangle It's a long shot...but the time frame is on your side. sorta.
    14. geez, man! i recently saw a hallmark question on another thread with a similar logo. it was a triangle with three figures/letters inside. it wasn't on an iron cross, tho. i can't remember where i saw it.
    15. Hi Hendrik, I was just visiting the Brussels Royal Army Museum website minutes ago, and at first I thought it was definitely a 2nd Empire. Then I noticed the same thing: the center background is smooth and not rayed. Very interesting (and confusing)! p.s. let me know if you would like to see any other angle or view a specific part; i will be happy to post more pictures. eric
    16. yep, i agree with rick--going through all of the threads in this section will help you find the type that you like the best, and patiently wait until you get lucky! it will happen. and keep watching the auctions' ending prices so you get a feel for what is a "good deal".
    17. hola miguel, this set looks ok to me. now, there are a couple of things which dictate price/value: rarity and condition. this maker is one of the most common, and the condition is not perfect. same for the box. unfortunately, i do not know what the current market price is--perhaps another member can help you with that. i feel that you are doing the correct thing by asking before buying; especially if you have not so much experience. eric
