Ummmmh it seems the original award cards and citations were stolen from the archives or is Dave in the archives in Moscow right now? -

Christian, I'm rather secessionist and would prefer to be out of the Commenwealth. So I know nothing about British Empire medals. -
Soviet Berlin, May 1945 picture
Bryan replied to Bryan's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Ok so it seems this is not in May 1945, but in July 1945 and it seems these are not al Marshals. Thanks for the clarification. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what a CBE? Any clarification would be appreciate. -
I'd like to know which crosses are wearing the 3 Marshals at the right from Zhukov and Montgomery. Is that a Polish cross or something like that? Sorry for my ignorance.

Dave, when I was there last summer I saw that on almost all pictures shown with orders, the soldiers were KIA. So there is much chances that those are posthumous ones! By the way, most of the stuff shown at the Stalingrad Panorama museum were in my opinion 100% original. I saw few museum copies out there.

Soviet Red Banner Type 2
Bryan replied to Bryan's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Well to me, Igor doesn't have realistic prices, that's one of the reason I have never bought from him. I don't know if I'm missing a point, but other dealers sell RB Type 2 between $500-$600. -
What's so special about this medal for selling so high? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Order-of-Red-Banner-Rus...1QQcmdZViewItem

I don't know if it has to be kept as a secret or not, but I would like to take some time to thank our friend Andriy who started to make English translations of the Mondvor website. Andriy Kuznetsov and Igor Pak have made a lot for the collecting community by creating THE reference website for Soviet phalerists by creating the wonderful site http://mondvor.narod.ru/ I am very happy that this guy is part of our small community at GMIC and I wanted to say a big thank you for taking some of his free time to translate his website in English. I think this will help a lot the non-Russian speakers or other that try hard to learn it, but still have difficulty to read articles in Russian. You will find 2 first articles that have now been translated. THE ORDER OF FRIENDSHIP OF PEOPLES and THE ORDER OF SERVICE TO THE MOTHERLAND IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE USSR. I think we should do a collect for Andriy, so he could take some days off at his job to translate more articles. http://mondvor.topcities.com/
