    1. Double Austrian ribbon on a Navy trapezoid bar. It should have been someone who got his first Austrian award in an NCO position, the second one as an officer.
    2. Thanks again --- yes the binding ribbon is very peculiar. Light brownish stripe on white, never seen this before. Maybe he turns up by coincidence.
    3. YES! I'm glad! Interesting: He was alive in 1957+, yet already "Notar" in 1915. He must have already completed Law School well before WW1, so I guess born around 1880-1885.
    4. I haven't seen many German Aziz recipients, but yes, it's a theoretical possibility. To me, a naval Beamter seems most probable, with the China Medal. The green ribbon could then be a Vasa Order.
    5. I remember reading somewhere that some knights cross recipients, in particular in US or Canadian camps, wore self-made knights crosses for appearance on trials, either as witnesses or defendants. Their original medals were usually gone. Maybe these were made for some such purpose.
    6. Thanks for your comments. I must say I absolutely have no clue, I have never seen a piece like this before. Chris -- that is what I think is most plausible, it might have been made in a North American camp, POWs were wearing their awards there. Regarding the Africa medal: interesting yes, I wonder if he cared about regulations or whether he was captured before the medal was forbidden to wear. John -- yes I agree, they also made things like the Lappland shield in POW camps, but I have never had one of these wooden pieces in hand.
    7. I found this one recently, a ribbon bar carefully hand-painted on a piece of wood. Someone who fought both in Russia and Africa. Made in a POW camp, maybe? Has anyone got similar pieces?
    8. Very nice. Yes, the Turkish Life saving medal is possible, too. This was Rick's original thread: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36199 and interestingly, maybe just by coincidence, his bar also had a Henry the Lion Order plus the green ribbon at the end.
    9. I think we can rule out the Saxon awards, LS or others, as this must have been a Prussian. Naval Beamter maybe? Mauritius/Lazarus is another possibility. And yes, the life saving medals went before other peacetime ones. I also wonder if the small piece of ribbon that ties the entire thing together is of any significance, as it seems to be white with brown stripes. Looks strange.
    10. This is obviously a pre-WW1 lapel bow, the awards being: 1) Red Eagle Order (or Medal??) 2) China Medal (probably in Steel for stay-at-home) 3) 1897 Centenary (thus active military or Beamter in 1897, since not a veteran) 4) Albert Order (or Honor Cross??) 5) Brunswick Henry the Lion Order (or Merit Cross??) 6) GREEN! No. 6 would make sense as the Brunswick Life Saving Medal, but also as a foreign (Persian? Swedish?) order in last place. No long service award. A reserve officer maybe, and/or civil servant?
    11. I remember that years ago, on WAF, Rick had a thread "It's not easy being green" on a ribbon bar with a plain green ribbon. The problem was that plain green can stand for a number of awards, from Brunswick Life Saving Medal, to Persian Sun and Lion Order and Swedish Vasa Order. Now I have a similar lapel bow with a green award in last place:
    12. Yes, the ribbons are of the wider type, except for the first and last one, the EK and Hindenburg. This overlapping style was more in use during and immediately after WW1, but apparently this guy liked it.
    13. #2: This should be an NCO, with two grades of the Waldeck order (swords missing on the second one), and the Sachsen-Weimar General Honor Decoration.
    14. I think this is a Bavarian doctor, with EK2, BMVO (probably 4X?), King Ludwig Cross, Saxon War Merit Cross, Bavarian DA, Waldeck (grade?), Austrian Red Cross Decoration and Hindenburg. I was unable to ID him, however. Couldn't find him in the Waldeck lists. Not too many Bavarians got the Waldeck Order.
