Austria-Hungary Medal 2. December 1873 - Question?
Iver replied to wschmidt's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Kev: As far as I know, the version with german Dezember instead of December was only one of many variants of this medal, made in the long period of War medal 1873 production... Has nothimg to do with hungarians... Is it sure, that the legitimation is for war medal 1873 (Kriegsmedaille 1873)? Why would a veteran organization (Kameradschaftsbund) award it? -

Austria-Hungary Opinions sought on a Karl FORTITVDINI in Zink
Iver replied to Kev in Deva's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Hi Kev, its really "between wars period" medal... these were the cheaper medlas for WWI veterans, they were silvered or gild... -
Medal was awarded to all land and muncipal officials in Bosna and Herzegovina, officers and military officials of XV. army corps, officials and serviants of K.u.K. Ministry of Finance and K.u.K.joint Ministry of Finance for affairs of Bosna and Herzegovina, who were to date 5.10.1909 in duty (so no reservists!).. Awarded bosnian medals were made in dark bronze, private purchased pieces were gild... But thats only my opinion, maybe Elmar Lang will know more... ?

Slovakia Militaria in Slovakia?
Iver replied to pmargulies's topic in Central & Eastern European States
pmargulies: There were 1.236 awards of Order of Slovak National Uprising I. class (R?d SNP I. triedy). But they thought, there will be only 1.000 awards, and only so many were made in Kremnica mint. So the other (236 pieces) were "made of II. class of this order" - one "I" on medal was removed and medals were gild. That was official (legal) made in mint only in case of Order of Slovak National Uprising I. class with number above 1.000.... I have never seen a cased II. class, but have asked a few friends, we will see... there were 6.586 awards of II. class - of them 130 to french citizens, 225 soviet, 84 bulgarian, 31 american, 5 romanian, 5 yugoslavian and 16 polish citizens... III. class of this order was awarded 31.356 times... -
Austria-Hungary 3rd Class Order of the Iron Crown
Iver replied to Gordon Craig's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
The Firm Rothe was a few years befor "hallmark duty" the only supplier of EKO and was him till beginning of WWI. When there was need for more decorations, additional firms were charged of production of EKO. From year 1916 was gold not more used. Orders made of brass from WWI period are marked with makers mark or "star" hallmark (sterchenpunze). but both of them can be absent. When both are missing, it is probably that decoration is made after 1922. Exception is firm Rothe - after end of WWII (!) they still marked made austrian orders with their masters mark. The firm Rothe made austrian orders again after the end of second world war and that till year 1970! (on original maschines)
