    1. Hi Paul, Thanks for your comment. Claudio posted the bar from the Kube auction only to compare the swords/date devices against those on my ribbon bar. Apart from that, there is no connection. They seem similar to me, but I would appreciate your comments. I'll email you about that project we discussed in DC. Cheers
    2. Thanks very much Claudio, a much better image to compare with. It may just be my eyes, or the two less than perfect images, but they look similar to me. Any thoughts? A forum member kindly suggested the bar is for an NCO since no officer received the Silver Verdienst Medaille mit X u. date. I'll have the ribbon bar in my hands in a few days and I appreciate all input. Thanks again. Mike
    3. Claudio, You must mean this offering. Thanks for the information, I had not seen this catalogue. WOW, what a grouping! The device looks very similar, if not identical, to my eyes. The Kube offering would also indicate that Saxons did receive Turkish awards.
    4. Thanks for the input. I was thinking the second to last ribbon could be the Carl Eduard wedding ribbon rather than the Turkish Half Moon, or would this be out of sequence? And it appears the red stripe on the edge of the ribbon is too small in comparison. How long would he have to have served for the Bavarian LS? Thanks again, and Cheers
    5. Hi, I just picked up this ribbon bar and I wish to solicit opinions as to originality and hopefully some indication as to who would have received it. Also, I couldn't find any examples of the '1914' device to compare for originality. Thanks in advance!
    6. Actually, that is a very common question. The name is from the County in Virginia from where my family hails. Geo. Washington and Robert E. Lee as well. BTW, I've found numerous references to my research subject. Thanks again!
    7. Hi Claudio, Thanks for your insight. Even with the correct spelling of his name, he is still a difficult subject to research. Cheers!
    8. Hi Dick, Thanks very much. That resource is excellent and new to me. Cheers!
    9. I am working on a research project dedicated to Lieutenant General of Cavalry Tatsuji Ogura, Commanding General of the 127th Infantry Division. I am having trouble locating information on him and I am hopeful some forum members will be able to add to his narrative, perhaps even a picture. Thanks in advance, Mike Constandy mjc@westmorelandresearch.org
    10. I am researching Brigadier General Alphonso Morretti and I am hopeful that some forum members can add some information to the topic. ~Born in Naples 1892; ~Served for years on the Austrian Front from 1915-1918 and wounded in combat; ~Promoted to Brigadier in 1938; ~Believed to have served in Ethiopia, Libya, and possibly Sudan; ~Believed to have commanded a Motorized Regiment; ~Surrendered to Germans in Yugoslavia in 1943; ~Died in Naples in 1958 This data comes from various sources and should be considered suspect until independently proven. I would be appreciative if a member can add to this narrative, even if just to confirm or deny what I already have. Thanks in advance, Mike mjc@westmorelandresearch.org
    11. Hi Stefan, Sorry for the delayed response, it seems like all my of clients have gone off their medication! I'll send the images to your email tonight. Glad to be able to help this little bit, and good luck with your future research. Cheers, Mike
    12. Scroll down "Bunkers in Giessen (Hessen)" on Walden's awesome site. Third Reich In Ruins Cheers, Mike
    13. Hi Stefan, Thanks for your patience. I didn't save my notes on Stadler because he wasn't the subject of my search, but I went back and found him for you. The second document comes from a partial listing of infantry officers that I found in T-315, RG 242, US National Archives. The original microfilm image is very poor, but I shot a few more images that are too large to post here with any clarity. If you want them, send your email address to me at mjc@westmorelandresearch.org and I'll send them along. The new images I took are substantial improvements. If not too private, can you describe your interest in Stadler? I'd love to see if you have anything related to the search. Cheers, Mike
    14. Hi Stefan, Glad this data was of interest to you. I saved the notes, but they are at my office and I am away for a week. I'll get the citations for you when I return. Cheers
    15. While conducting other research, I came across this data that may be helpful to you. Cheers.
    16. Sorry Rick, I should have been more explicit. I don't know his rank, his name is engraved/scratched upon the reverse of two early pilot's badges. Thanks for your time.
    17. Hello, I am looking for any biographic information on pre-war and likely wartime pilot H. Garms. Thanks in advance. Mike
    18. Thanks very much for your insights. I have only seen that one photo as well. Cheers
    19. I have been looking for the awards and decorations for Generalleutnant Karl Kettembeil, but without success. If anyone can assist, for whatever period/era the data is available, I would be appreciative. I have an otherwise full biographic file. Thanks. Born: 27 Apr 1890 Died: 12 Apr 1976
    20. I especially like the Oaks and Laurels combination on number 5. Wish I had one! :jumping:
