    1. Yea, I lost a few "unusual" artillery cards recently. I think some people really drive up prices unrealistically. I just can't see the reason sometimes. I just set my maximum and move on...
    2. Ed, what type of photos are you looking at?! I rarely spend more than $10 - even after exchange rates from either Euro or Sterling.
    3. This is neither Austrian nor military. It is a Jerusalem Cross, also known as Crusaders' Cross - a religious symbol associated with the Catholic honorific order Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. I've also seen it used with Episcopal groups. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_cross#Modern_use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Holy_Sepulchre
    4. Jim, thanks for showing the original examples. Very clear. I am not surprised at the Italy being fake. Like I said, I bought these so many years ago - when I wasn't very informed. At least the thread can continue to educate others...
    5. We see this common medal on ribbon bar threads, but I thought I'd start its own thread. Show your singles... This silver one is signed K Schwenzer under the neck... Experts: Are there any other engravers besides Schwenzer? Anyone have examples of the silvered bronze or 'Kriegsmetall' variants?
    6. Another low issue clasp - ENGLAND - around 30,000. And another one I've had for 7-8 years. Opinions?
    7. I know less than 5,000 of the ITALY Clasp were issued... I've had this one for 7-8 years and this is the first scan - the clasp is particularly dirty. So, what do you all think? Edited to add: Identified as a FAKE. See more info in this thread.
    8. Not to be nit-picking (okay, I'm nit-picking 'cause it's Chris ) Don't we already have an EK post card thread? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/13654-show-your-ic-postcards/
    9. My photo is poor quality, but the "thick" side view matches the bulky lion on the front...
    10. These being with the Kyffhäuser badge (which is also very nice!) makes perfect sense. I have to take a look at the shoulder boards...
    11. Jocko, no, these were not for fund raising like WHW. The veterans decorations (Krieger Bund, Krieger Verein, Krieger Verband, etc) were veterans organizations that were organized either by region, town, or regiment in the late 19th century. They were more social in nature than were later post-WWI veterans organizations in other countries, like the British Legion or American Legion. They were the forerunners to the German organizations like Kyffhäuserbund in the inter-war years.
    12. This is an often seen post card; not 100% certain on this one, but 99% certain this is a 10cm Kanone 1899
    13. A relatively scarce gun...usually seen with Kolonial Truppen. The 9cm C/1873 Kanone The second image is a 1930s Eckstein-Halpaus Dresden cigarette card showing the 9cm C/73 Kanone with Kolonial-Truppen in Battle of Hamakari
    14. So, now you can see why there weren't a lot of footage of attacks. Damn camera is heavy.
    15. Jock, what do you mean? FAR 46 is Niedersächsisches Feld-Artillerie-Regiment Nr.46. So, Niedersachsen is not only an option - it's the only option. FAR 46 was garrisoned in Hannover, Niedersachsen. (Lower Saxony in English).
    16. How about this one... British Mk IV Tank - I read that the Germans called it "Schwerer Kampfwagen (Beute)"
    17. Got this in a group of photos; not sure what these soldiers are pulling... A minenwerfer? Interesting to see the artillery shells...probably 155mm "Blindgänger" or duds.
    18. I just acquired a group of 10 WWI Imperial German photos - mainly to get the artillery photos - a few others came in the group, including this one of Machine Gunners. PS: This is available for trade for artillery photo...
