    1. Number 2 also has a lovely bride... Starting with the badges; a Wound Badge (silver?) and I need help with the second one... The ribbon bar appears to be War Merit Cross 2. Class And...a Feuerwerker (Ordnance) Trade Badge
    2. I picked up these two photos some time ago... Mainly because it's a cheaper way for me to collect TR medals - and without the risk of fakes. This first one... Besides being awarded with a lovely bride... Appears to have the LS Medal (I assume a 4 year) and the Sudetenland Medal. I put up a close-up of his ribbon bar. And the badge. I can't ID the badge; any help appreciated. Any help with rank of this soldier would be appreciated as well.
    3. Obergefreiter Maternus Mutzel, Schweren Artillerie Regiment, no decorations
    4. Obergefreiter Alois Lechel, Artillerie Regiment, EK2 and Ostmedaille
    5. Obergefreiter Otto Karrer, Gebirgs Artillerie Regiment, EK2 and "andere Kriegsauszeichnungen"
    6. Sterbebilder are a great way to add to a focused collection. I'm not a big TR collector, but these sterbebilder allow me to collect some artillery and touch upon the medals/decorations of the time without the cost (and risk of fakes). First up, a Gefreiter from a leichten Artillerie Regiment, with the EK2, Krimshild, Ostmedaille, and Romanian decoration.
    7. This is a relatively common photo of Marine Artillerie on the French Coast - Der Atlantikwall. Anyone else have some photos of TR coastal defenses?
    8. Autumn on the Bay...beautiful

    9. Haven't seen this one too much on GMIC... Might have been on a ribbon bar... Any singles?
    10. One more common medal in the ribbon bar threads, but without it's own thread. Show your singles. This is my kind of "schumtzig" example...
    11. Another common medal on ribbon bar threads, but deserving of its own thread. Show your singles...
    12. Nicely done. An interesting twist and nice bit of education.
    13. Here's my example... Magnetic core. Unfortunately, it came without a ribbon or suspension ring.
    14. Yea, sometimes the advertising is weak on info... A good thing for us! And a lot of folks don't look at the backs. I've snagged a lot of unusual artillery unit stempels on some very plain cards...
    15. This MG photo is a great example of why collecting these relatively inexpensive items really make the whole collecting experience even better. Machine Gun Bavarian Mountain the boots the Luger holsters Combine this will actual items that you have ... like the Lugers in your collection. It's a great enhancement. Add the research possibilities and it's a great education. And for those that can't afford the Lugers themselves... These photos let you collect that area... I really think photos and postcards are under appreciated. (Or maybe not considering the recent discussion on prices... ) Out of curiosity, if it's not asking too much inside info, what price range did you snag this photo?
    16. Great shot of the boots! The stempel is even better in my eyes... "Geb. Masch-Gew Komp" ... A mountain machine gun company.
    17. Auseklis, I also gave diorama a thought. It sure has that look
    18. Bernhardt, thanks for the info on the use of "kampfgruppe" in research and references. That is a detail unknown to me. But let me make clear that I didn't say the chart itself, the map on the wall, was for use by an infantry unit. I said the FIRE PLAN on the chart was for an infantry unit. I said the photo is an artillery HQ. It would be great to have a reference that applies the term to an artillery unit. While interestung, this photo alone is not conclusive that Kampfgruppe Baumann was an artillery Kommando. Only that the fire plan was for Baumann's formation - either in support or in order to execute
    19. And I thought you were concerned with your erasers ;)
    20. Gentlemen, I don't believe Kampfgruppe Baumann is an artillery unit...rather it's a battlegroup being supported by this artillery fire plan. This is most likely the name of an infantry unit; although the photo is likely the HQ of an artillery unit. Curiously, I found a internet reference to a Kampfgruppe Baumann with Tiger tanks in 1944
    21. Martin, your instincts were correct and your comment sent me searching in one of my books to see if I could make a county connection. I found the 52nd Regiment of Foot badge (like the one above) in the book, "Discovering British Military Badges and Buttons" RJ Wilkinson-Latham. It's a very basic volume, but sent me in the direction of Oxfordshire Light Infantry. The 52nd is a relatively famous Waterloo regiment. The pouch is definitely an interesting piece...
    22. Not an early German tank, but an early British tank! And probably marked with crosses for an exercise or targets! It's a British Mark VI A tank. See the photo from a book called "Panzer; Die Geschichte der deutschen Panzerwaffe in Zweiten Weltkrieg" by Niall Barr and Russell Hart.
