    6. Some great shots there that are worthy of being in a book. Not just good photos of hats but also of epaulettes and the cyphers on them. It looks like they all came from the same studio, or most of them anyway.

    9. I can't say I have ever seen one of these before. Nice little item.
    10. Nice example. While I don't collect individual examples I do like how Führerschein can be very underrated items with nice little 'extras' - a nice photo or a signature of some high award holder. In this case the signature seen is that of Joachim Wagner-Hohenlobbese who finished the war as a Generalmajor and holder of the German Cross in Silver. He seems to of spent the war as a Pionier General in various Army Groups.
    11. Interesting document. It made sense to recruit Feldgendarmerie to act as a military police force under Allied control. The printed signature (I can't tell from the image if it is printed or hand signed but will assume printed) is that of RKT Joachim Coeler.
    12. The Göring signature alone would be enough to make me walk away. As mentioned, what are the chances that all of these personalities would not only sign the same page. As for it being an ambitious attempt, it all depends on what level of collector it is aimed at fooling.
    13. I'd say that they are all faked.
    14. It may be that you will need to track down the war diaries for the British units involved. It might also be possible that the battle is known by another name or what may of seemed to be a major battle was just another fight in a long series of similar combats so little was detailed about it "beyond X moved through to the town of Y where they encountered a German force which were eventually pushed back after a short sharp fight.."
    15. Good to see that the project has moved on greatly. Interesting to see that he has signed the final security check on page 15 of his own Soldbuch.
    16. The (E) would stand for Ergänzungsoffizier - a Reserve category of service such as old officers called up to serve in such positions as the District Recruiting Offices.
    17. In 1939 & 1940 he was serving as a Major (E) in the Wehrbezirkskommando Reid (Innkreis). He is listed in the 1944/45 Rangliste as an Oberstleutnant with a seniority date of 01.08.1941.
    18. That is great Chris, thanks - so he did race against the eventual Bronze medalist.
    19. Unfortunately I have no idea. I am not a follower of athletics so wouldn't know where to look for the runners in his heats in the Olympics or European Championships or who was and wasn't famous.
    20. I don't collect EK's so I don't often have much to contribute to this section but recently I was able to obtain some items that belonged to a Battalion Commander who won both the EK II & I in World War 2. Unfortunately the EK II wasn't part of the set but along with his Wehrpass and some photos I was also able to obtain what military medals there were. Although they were all de-Nazified there were two EK I's with one having a pin fitting and the other having a screw fixing (unfortunately the screw plate was missing) with the latter having the marking of L54. What is especially interesting is that the soldier, who finished the war as a Major, was an athlete and pre-war he competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, losing in the Semi-Finals of the 400m. He also competed in the 1938 European Championships where he won Gold in the 4x400m Final. After the war he worked for the pastry company 'Heinemann' which was founded by his sister and her husband.
    21. Many thanks for that Bernhard. That's one for my files!
    22. Thanks for posting. I can't say I have seen one of these before, I wonder who the signature belongs to?
    23. It certainly is a labour of love. Good luck in looking for everything else as I doubt it will end when the TDB arrives! : )
