+ there is rare variation of doc that was issued not by district, but by Town Hall of Kazan and executive committee of anniversary. These were issued for top brass, honorary guests, etc... -

I wonder if HH personnel was actually aware that these are fakes ... Otherwise these starting bids look really strange for real pieces, don't you think? -
To sum up According to 1944 regulation Large wings [航空用特別胸章 (航空胸章) - Air Force Badge] were issued to 将校 - officers, 下士官 - petty officers, 士官候補生 - officer cadets, 技術候補生 - engineer cadets, 軍医候補生 - surgeon cadets. Smaller wings [空中勤務者胸章 - Flight Personnel Badge] were issued to 操縦者 - pilots, 偵察者 - observes, 爆撃手 - bombardiers, 無線手 - radio operators, 旋回機関銃手 - machine‐gunners.

Phil, official material for this one was silvered tombac. Direct quote from original statute "Юбилейная медаль "300 лет Российскому флоту" из томпака с серебрением" Personally I've never seen such medal in silver ;)

Tell you the truth it doesn't matter if you are on your way "out" or you are selling real soviet/RF awards inside Russia. If authorities catch you in the act there will be "troubles" ... Another thing is selling these unofficial trinkets like MVD, Ministry of Defence, etc "awards" or ex-official medals. Probably P.S. I bet Paul has like three or maybe even five such cabinets :whistle:

If I start to collect these where I will put my japanese collection?! Not to mention that in Russia you can get yourself 3 years long jail sentence for such "activity"...

Interesting piece... But no more than $300 P.S. About marks. According to the assay mark this piece was made in North-West region of Russia (bears letter Л for North-West assay inspection) in 925 silver by unknown (at least to me) manufacturer ИЛМД. Strangest thing ever is different mark on suspension which I believe reads as СпМД, i.e. St.Peterburg Mint.

I wonder if Armoiries et decorations was one of this “Old reference books on orders, published both in Japan and Europe, contain many errors in the illustrations and descriptions of Japanese orders” (Peterson, 3rd edition, p. 6)
