Regulation Согласно Положению, медалью «За отличие в службе в Сухопутных войсках» награждаются военнослужащие, проходящие военную службу в органах управления, соединениях и воинских частях Сухопутных войск, ранее проходившие военную службу в Сухопутных войсках, лица гражданского персонала Сухопутных войск за добросовестную службу в течение 5 лет и более в календарном исчислении, за мужество и отвагу, проявленные при исполнении воинского долга, и выполнение специальных задач независимо от срока военной службы в Сухопутных войсках, а также другие граждане Российской Федерации, оказывающие содействие в решении задач, возложенных на Сухопутные войска. Награждение медалью производится приказом главнокомандующего Сухопутными войсками по представлению начальников органов военного управления Сухопутных войск, командиров объединений, соединений и воинских частей Сухопутных войск. Медаль вручается награждённому в торжественной обстановке главнокомандующим Сухопутными войсками или другим должностным лицом по его поручению. Вместе с медалью выдаётся удостоверение установленного образца. Повторное награждение медалью не производится. Description of the medal Медаль изготавливается из металла золотистого цвета, имеет форму круга диаметром 32 мм с выпуклым бортиком с обеих сторон. На лицевой стороне медали, в центре рельефное изображение малой эмблемы Сухопутных войск, обрамлённой лавровым венком. На оборотной стороне медали: в центре рельефная надпись в четыре строки «ЗА ОТЛИЧИЕ В СЛУЖБЕ В СУХОПУТНЫХ ВОЙСКАХ»; по кругу рельефная надпись: в верхней части «МИНИСТЕРСТВО ОБОРОНЫ», в нижней части «РОССИЙСКОЙ ФЕДЕРАЦИИ». Regarding medal on red ribbon extract from "Two Imperial Chinese Legation Medals", Jeffrey Jacob, OMRS Journal, September 2005 "In Europe, the Chinese diplomatic representatives soon realised they needed some kind of award they could present to deserving foreigners for services to the Chinese Empire and often for services rendered to the Legation itself. They could recommend the award of the Imperial Order of the Double Dragon (established in 1882 in five classes, with the higher three classes subdivided into three grades each, for foreigners only), but communication was slow, their advice was not always acted upon, and even when the Order was awarded, it is noticeable that only the higher three classes seem to have been given. So at some time (exact data is lacking) the Imperial Government must have authorised each major Legation to institute and award their own mdals. I suspect the Double Dragon was awarded to the more important military and government officials, while these medals were given to lesser officials and junior military personnel. Medal of Legation in Berlin. The medal came in two classes (gold - which is to say, gold-plated silver - and silver) and measures 42mm in diameter, not counting the 7mm loop above. The obverse has the Imperial Dragon and much decorative work, the reverse simply has '1st Class' or '2nd Class' in Chinese characters. The 1st Class weighs 16 dwt (penny weight) and the 2nd, which is slightly thinner, weighs 13 dwt. They were struck by different dies, and there are minor differences in the design. They were made to be worn as the recipient wished, and as can be seen, mine is mounted German-style, on the 'Cornflower blue' ribbon of the Order of the Crown of Prussia. Also found original regulation for these badges (approved by society on May 24, 1912) Для увеличения потока денежных средств на общем Собрании Комитета, которое состоялось 24 мая 1912 г. постановили: «1. Испросить Высочайшее Соизволение на учреждение в Комитете нагрудного знака для лиц обоего пола, с распространением его среди населения при условии, что за пожертвование в 500 рублей выдавать золотой знак, в 100 рублей серебряный, за более выдающиеся крупные пожертвования испрашивать особые награды и, кроме того, в некоторых случаях за особые труды и заслуги в деле содействия Комитету выдавать нагрудный знак бесплатно; 2. Выпустить согласно постоянно поступающим просьбам, недорогие жетоны (трехрублевого достоинства) для ношения на цепочке, чтобы каждый, внесший свою лепту на нужное Родине дело, имел о том память…»

Just checked my archive and here comes a little correction. For one time donation of 500 rubles badge from posts #1-2 was issued but this badge was made in gold!!! P.S. I'll post a photo of this badge in a couple of days

Chuck, as far as I know this society had only two types of awards 1) badge (post #1-2) for 100 and 500 rubles donations 2) jetton (post #9) for 3 ruble donations I think both jettons were originally gilded. Then the left one completely lost all its gilt (although I think some gild is still visible on the wreath). Cheers, Nick

Yours two Chuck are charitable jetton issued by the very same organization "Special committee for strengthening military air fleet of Russia" "ОСОБЫЙ КОМИТЕТ ПО УСИЛЕНИЮ ВОЕННО-ВОЗДУШНОГО ФЛОТА РОССИИ" Chairman of this society was Grand Prince Alexandre Michailovich Inscription on the jetton obverse reads "Strength of Rusia Air Fleet". Jetton was established on February 3, 1912. For one time donation of 500 rubles - badge (with lifelong right of wearing). For one time donation of 100 rubles - badge. For one time donation of 3 rubles - jetton.
