      SC Gold "900"

Here is the SC Gold of G?nter Wagner (for a photograph of Fw. Wagner look at "My Legion Condor&SC traeger photo collection"). Matthias
    5. Thanks for researching Rick! I own only (poor little collector) the 1904/05 Almanach and these issue is not so detailed than the 1908/09 issue. After my knowledge of the "Ordenskanzlei" only the orders were called in (relatively high aquisition price lay behind here). In practice long service awards and campaign medals were not called in. Some of them called in "their" orders consequently still until 1945 (e.g. Wuerttemberg). Thanks Matthias (How can I distinguish between the term "medal" and "order" in english?)
    6. Hi, in my possession is the medal bar of the Prussian Oberst Hermann Bauer. The bar is in original state and represents the latter stood of his honor history. The missing decorations returned to the respective "Ordenskanzlei". So, and here my question: does somebody have coincidentally a picture of "my" Colonel (or knows something about his biography) ? Hopeful Matthias

      Japanese Victory Medal

...YES me, the translation of the inscripion on the box lid is very simple, have a look below (it was not possible for me to insert Japanese characters in the "text box" so I have to attach a pdf). Japanese inscriptions on box lids are almost very soberly and essentially. Regards Matthias

      Japanese Victory Medal

Hi Darrell, is this a simple "scratch" ? Matthias
    11. Hi Beertje, have a look at the attached detail of an "aged by time" celanese cover inlay. Normally celanese should not be a subject of an obscure chemical reaction while aging. Your one looks more than "aged by liquid" (my favorite is tea). Allan is completely right, it is a modern one... Regards Matthias
    12. Oaken Crown Superb example of the Officers Cross. Made by the (most talented) court jeweller Adrien Frederic Bron between 1858 and 1862 (this model was further-manufactured in the same form later by Becht and Elbers).
    13. Oaken Crown Commanders Cross. Manufactured by the jeweler Augustin Moussault, Amsterdam, between 1849 and 1859.
    14. Oaken Crown Here is a very early example of a grand cross star made by the court jeweller A.F. Bron (one of the earliest types of Bron, still without plastic execution of the belt sanding at the oaken wreath). Regards Matthias
    15. ...one more: Order of the Zaehringer Lion, knight 2nd class, without swords, number of awards 3544 (according to Volle)
    16. ...may I post this one additionally ? One of the very rare silver gilt ones. Matthias
    17. Hey, thanks a lot, Les! ..and to all researchers there outside: you astonish me again and again ! Matthias
    18. The associated award document is dated 21. December 1938 (I received the estate direcly from the family -as all my "3rd Reich" pieces, since now I bought not one 3rd Reich piece from any dealer...) the recipient died at an accident in 1940 and this was the only example he owned. If you are interested have a look at my homepage, there I present the piece and since now I can update the information about :-) I think that thus your 39-40 theory for the 2nd pattern unfortunately somewhat crumble. So the change of pattern was in 1938. I have learned a lot, thank you Matthias
    19. I want to make here the beginning with an EK I 1914 (unknown manufacturer, could somebody help?) dedicated to an observer "...of his grateful pilot, Reinecke".. I hope here will follow many other pic's after, because unfortunately original engravings became very rare. Matthias
    20. ...and this is my one and only Assmann (early type, awarded 1938 ). He, Gentlemen (particularly the Gentlemen Richard Gordon and John Temple-West), how did you manage the color correctness of your photographs (only daylight?) and the brilliant sharpness ? And what cameras do you use? Questions over questions, but with the quality of the photos shown here I must inquire... Matthias
    21. ...I found also a Baden 70er medalbar somewhere in my cabinet.. Best Regards Matthias
    22. Hi Rick, this is a very (the attention is with very) simple reproduction of the Japanese "Gensui - " or "Marshal's Badge". The badge was created in 1898 "..and was conferred on distinguished generals and admirals." On the reverse the date of the award is engraved. The dbadge was worn on the right chest side (same way as the graduate badge of the military academy). For more detailed information have a look at: - James W. Peterson, Orders and Medals of Japan and Associated States, Page 85-86 - Andreas Thies, Angebotsliste Winter 1988/89, Offer No. 42 (detailed reverse picture) ...or ask me :-) The approximate value is what ever do you want to give for a reproduction... Best regards and merry christmas Matthias
