    1. Hello Christer, post 151 - it's Hemmerle, post 153 - Weiss, post 154 - Leser. Would be interesting to post picture of the 'GH900' hallmark. Never seen something like that before on a 3rd class. Thanks.
    2. It's not uncommon to have two MVKs on bar - one on war ribbon and one on ribbon for officials. Biggest extreme I've seen so far was 2 MVKs and 1 MVO on 5 place bar, all with war ribbons.
    3. I believe that roughly 4000-5000 awards were made to Offiziersstellvertreters and Unterzahlmeisters. The "official" number of awards says around 3800 but I think 5000 is more probable. Current value depends on maker and production variant (price ranges from150 EUR to 400 EUR).
    4. Hello, in my opinion it once used to be 3rd class with swords made by Weiss. Seems the swords were removed and the hole worked with a file to look like the swords never been there.
    5. That's correct...some more details on German Wikipedia http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_Typ_A
    6. I can't see any 'Start new topic' button in our old For Sale section. Is it still in process of re-activation or something is wrong on my side? Thanks.
    7. Hello guys, I'm looking for any info about Bavarian Feld-unterveterinar named Friedrich Bernhard Altenstein. He was born November 13, 1893 in Greiz (Reuss). According to what I found on Ancestry.de he served in 4 Bayer. Fußart. Regt. around 1916. As per this entry in Kriegsstammrolle he seems to be mentioned in Offizier Rangliste: I would like to know which medals was he awarded and when. I suppose he had MVK 3rd class, MVK 1st class, Reuss Ehr. Kreuz 3rd class. Thank you very much in advance for any help.
    8. I planned to bid on this photo...yesterday the price was only 10.40 EUR...today's winning bid >>>> 154 EUR :speechless1:
    9. Hello guys, I got this one recently from WAF and have couple of question which I hope will be answered here. Main reason why I purchased this bar was of course rare Bavarian MVK 2nd class by Jacob Leser (first model) but still would like to learn as much as possible about the Feldwebel who wore it.... He was there around 1905 (Luitpold + DSWA) and he was there in 1938 (LS cross for Beamte). That's 33 years of his life 'documented' on the bar, taking into account he was about 18 when he entered army service he would have been at least 51 when he got his medal bar mounted. First 3 awards indicate he was a combatant...but...what was his role during DSWA campaign (steel) and in TR era? Beamter? Any thoughts please? Thanks in advance for your comments.
    10. It's Bavarian Goldene Hochzeits-Jubiläumsmedaille. Some 2711 pieces awarded.
    11. Then OK, I did not know that officers and NCOs actually shared 24- and 40-years cross. I thought the split was strictly: EM & NCO - 9,12,15 years, and Officers - 24,40 years.
    12. Bavarian MVK 2nd class (by Hemmerle) looks good! But i'm not sure about the LS cross for 24 years - shouldn't there be a cross for 15 years instead?
    13. Hello guys, I've been googling for some hours tryin' to find out any information about Bavarian Minenwerfer Kompagnie Nr. 208 but was not successful at all. I have an entry from Kriegsstammrolen which shows 'career path' of one Bavarian Pioneer: Am 21.07.1915 ..... beim 4. Pionier Battalion Dep. III hinzufügt Am 21.09.1915 zu 3. Kompagnie hinzufügt Am 02.11.1915 zu 1. Kompagnie hinzufügt Am 04.11.1915 zu Minenwerfer Kompagnie Abteilung hinzufügt Am 04.12.1915 zu Kompagnie 208 hinzufügt I want to learn more about whereabouts, commanders and campaigns of above mentioned Kompagnie during WW1 and would be grateful for any info. Many thanks in advance.
    14. In recent few weeks this seller has been offering more and more interesting bavarian awards. He started with MVO 4th class without swords which (from poor photos) seemed to be a good one. Same week he was selling also MVK 3rd class with swords and crown made of zinc which turned out to be at least a questionable item. Week later he offered 2nd classes without swords one of which you posted here. Both more questionable than the zinker. Yesterday he started another set of auctions this time offering MVKs 1.class with and without swords + crown. Let me say that a serious collector would not like to have these items in his collection...if you know what I mean http://shop.ebay.de/graf-eisenstein/m.html
    15. If you check post no. 80 earlier in this thread there's a nice Hemmerle piece without swords. Honestly, I don't have best feeling about the cross you posted above. But peace time crosses are so rare that I've seen 2 (two) so far that were 100% originals. I'm not saying that 'yours' is wrong, it's just the feeling.
    16. Well I'm no expert on these awards but let's compare these two crosses: First one is from Orehilas, the other one is from one of your topics from 2006 (http://gmic.co.uk/in...=1). Can you see my chicken vs eagle dilemma? :)
    17. Unfortunately his Luebeck cross is as bad as the rest of his items...Raritaetensammlerclub, Munich654321, Orehilas321, centra etc...same guy...same crap.
    18. Guys, can somebody please confirm or correct my understanding regarding Bavarian army... EM & NCO received medals for 9,12 and 15 years of service. Officers received crosses for 24 and 40 years of service. If a soldier was promoted to an officer after let's say 13 years of service was he allowed to wear a medal for 12 years? Or did he have to return any LS medal and wait another 11 years to get 24 years cross? Or one could become an officer only after 24 years of service? Sorry for probably stupid questions but I finally want to be clear on LS award rules How it was with Landwehr? 12 years for EM and NCOs and 20 years for officers? Same rules as in the army? Thanks for bringing light into my LS knowledge darkness
