Dave They can't be Frack bars - the order on the bars is left to right. A Frack bar would be mounted in the opposite order. Mark

Has anyone else seen these bars listed at Huesken's? Both come with the original award documents and are named to the same Lt. Dr. Sayffaerth. These raise a couple of questions. The style of ribbons folded under "Bavarian" style is most often seen on the fakes coming out of Austria. I was told though that this style was standard post 1938. Personally, I get gun shy when I see them wrapped this way. This one was just offered to me too. [attachmentid=59122]

Solomon Here is a pure guess on my part. Probably totally wrong, but this could all be for an NCO. Prussian Crown Medal, Saxon Ernst Medal (either silver or gold), Reuss Merit Medal (either silver or gold), Lippe Orden Des Ehrenkreuzes Again, probably all wrong, but I am sure one of the better ID's will be along shortly to positively ID them. Solomon No, 1915. Per David Danner's most excellent website: "On January 9, 1915, a "war ribbon" of yellow with red and black stripes near each edge was authorized. Prior to this, all awards, including swords awards, were on an amaranth ribbon. After this, the war ribbon was used for awards with swords and for non-swords awards which were for merit on the homefront in support of the war effort. " Regards, Mark

Solomon The Reuss War ribbon was issued from 1915 on. I would think your set was issued early war before he earned an EK2. I might also think the first ribbon was a crown order, as it would be unusual to mount a long service award in front of a war ribbon. Regards, Mark By the way - Nice little bar

Steve I don't disagree that the bar is legit. The problem with this style bar is that anybody, at anytime, can switch the awards around and no one is the wiser. Keep in mind also that the bar was purchased from ebay, land of the forbidden TR symbols, and was also purchased from a dealer. Who knows - he might have bought the bar with no awards on it and threw whatever he had in stock onto it to increase it's resale value! Josef If you are going to hang a Faithful Service cross it would have gone onto position #5, not position #4. A Wurtt LS would have hung on #4. Mark

Steve My point was that IF the bar has had two awards added to it, Which it does appear from the reverse, what two awards are they most likely to be from what is hanging on the bar? Not the foriegn awards as they are both pre 1914. Not the Wurtt LS, or in your theory the blue ribbon, as they were both discontinued by war's end. There isn't anything else left. Most likely combo is the HK and the blue ribbon being a TR 25 Faithful Service cross. Mark

Josef The Prussian LS award in number 5 makes no sense hanging on that bar, especially it there was a Wurttemberg LS in number 4. Looking at the reverse of the bar the last two hooks are different than the others, so my guess is that the bar was added onto at some point. The HK would have been one of the add ons, and my guess is that instead of the Prussian LS there should be a TR civilian 25 Faithful Service cross hanging there. That would at least make sense being in front of the foriegn awards but behind the others. Nice bar by the way Regards, Mark

I found a small 3 place medal bar that has a most unusual backing to it. The red felt is cut in a manner which I have never seen before. Instead of the usual zigzag pattern it is cut into loops, with miniature zigzags cut into the edges. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Here is the front: [attachmentid=57582]

Here is an interesting Austrian ribbon bar that I have a few questions on. Can anyone ID the awards on it? I believe the second is an Iron Crown, and the second to last is a wound ribbon, but the rest? Also, is this a correct style of wrap on these ribbons? And, why is the bar look trapezoid shaped on the left side and rectangular on the right? Sorry for the lousy photos. I have requested better ones and will add them when I get them.
