Last week Detlev offered a Saxon Medal bar that was mounted in an unothodox style. His description of the grouping was "EK2, Saxon Merit Order 2kl with swords, Albert Order 1 kl with swords and crown, Schaumberg-Lippe 2, HH and HK". Detlev has examined the bar thoroughly and has given his blessings as being 100% legit. All medals are original and the ribbons show proper wear and age on the fold lines. I am curious to see what others think of this bar. First up are the pictures posted by Detlev. [attachmentid=38225]

Rick In regards to the mounting of the oval Carl Eduard medal on the Sax-Ernestine ribbon - could it be due to the width of the ribbon it was awarded on? I don't have the actual size but it looks like the issue ribbon is only about half the width of the Sax-Ernestine ribbon. It might have been just too narrow to mount properly on a medal bar. Mark

Dolf Thank you for the link. You were not kidding that they carry a little bit of everything! Do you know if these can be purchased individualy or do you have to subscribe to the whole series? Have you ever seen any of the other lines in person? I am curious as to the quality of the tanks and the different lines ot toy soldiers they produce. When I mentioned bombers I was thinking more along the line of heavy bombers - B-17, B-24, Lancasters.... Some seaplanes would be interesting too - Grummans, PBY5s,.... Regards, Mark

Dolf Very nice collection! I am curious about the company who produces these. are they going to produce any bombers for this range? Do they only do WW2? I looked at their website but I did not see any other eras. Regards, Mark

Imperial Navy Swords Part 1
Mark M replied to a topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Rick I feel your pain! The TR dagger/sword set that I mentioned above not only did I have the family crest but also the family last name. I was trying to pin it down to which one of the seven or eight members the set belonged to. I finally gave up the project after about a year and a half of searching in vain. It is still a very beautiful, one of a kind sword! Mark -
Now that this project is finished I can get back to doing WW1. Next project is an Indian mountain gun, crew and mule team. [attachmentid=35720]

US Customs has finally decided that my accessories contain no threats to the US and have passed them on! So, here are some final shots of the tank and crew. [attachmentid=35716]

Rick Very interesting photo. Is it dated? He is wearing a cross strap and I thought that did not come into fashion until the 1920s. The shoulder boards have irregular pips and the boards themselves look very dark. It appears also that he is an Oberst? he looks young for that rank. Can you tell from the photo what the little pin on his uniform next to the medal bar is? Thanks, Mark
