I didn't want the ugly truck to leave without me so here is or was my nastiest cross which I decided to do a nip and tuck on. To all the collectors who might be offended because I broke the unwritten law........sorry

EK 1914 Another ugly EKII 1914...
Kriztofer replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Ah Micha As a friend of mine once said " even the ugly ones need love" Don't know if he was talking about crosses or not ? I kinda like this one, it appears to have a nice wide frame. What is the weight of it? -

No problem ksg, it's an occupational hazard brought on by looking at EK's for too long lol -

EK 1914 Ek2 to Ek1 conversion
Kriztofer replied to gregM's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
That's a first for me too! Very unusual why someone would, if you'll pardon the expression, downgrade from a first class. They have done a very nice job of removing all traces of the hinge and clasp. Is it marked 800? Another Imperial that leaves more questions to be answered. A very uncommon & nice pick up ksg. Thanks for posting it. -
EK 1914 Identification of EK1 and EK2 (WW1).
Kriztofer replied to 107's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanks 107. To me it looks like the maker Z (Zeich) from the acorns anyway. -

Any chance of a reverse shot of the EK2 107 -
EK 1914 Typical K.A.G. EKI
Kriztofer replied to Claudius's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Definitely bent on purpose I would say, it's too radical for a design flaw. But when and for what purpose is anyone's guess. -

Nice pick up Greg, I personally like field made/repaired examples, they give a nice human touch to the award. There's a another example that comes to mind on Pg 200 of the Iron Time. -
you're right Joe, I shoulda said two bits lol.

EK 1914 The 1914 Eks with blued core
Kriztofer replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
The last screwback is a beauty the detail is very crisp, I don't know if its the scan but the frame has a brass tint to it? -

Nice Micha, thanks for sharing. I've seen this last type screwback setup with no markings, are they any relation to this type/maker? -

EK 1939 how is this EK being worn?
Kriztofer replied to Valgor's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Looks like he was just awarded it. His helmet looks pretty used and the uniform isn't nicely pressed for a normal studio portrait ?? Nice photo. -

EK 1914 What do you think about it ?
Kriztofer replied to pinpon590's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Gentleman, thank you for pointing out what you see as the bad characteristics of the posted (pinpons) cross, this does make it clearer. The one I posted isn't mine but an example from another thread, the comparison I was making with the example was with the L shape of the pin which some collectors see as a fake attribute or a replacement. I must admit it isn't the nicest of pin designs, pretty basic. Regards, Chris -

Kriztofer replied to pinpon590's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Hi Gents For the sake of furthering our knowledge of these awards I would like to hear more reasons why you think this cross is bad. Funny patina and personal preference do not make a bad piece. I see nothing wrong with the core, it appears to be 3 piece construction. The catch does seem like TR period but this pin is acceptable as seen on the example I posted. The block that's above the hinge is another thing maybe a repair?? -
EK 1914 Newest 1914 EK I

Correct Mike, more commonly known as Oxblood. I didn't want to say it Nick about the color blindness that is lol. -

Kriztofer replied to pinpon590's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I've seen this type of pin before and I finally found the comparison pics. I think it's just another design variation although I don't remember seeing this exact type before. I would say this cross is a ok, but you might want to see what Motorhead or Mr Garvy think first. -
