    1. Acquired these 2 recently. Belgian 1940-45 Commemerative and Resistance medals. Hopefully I willl frame these along with French resistance medals once acquired?
    2. I can only summise that the 3 bottom right are modern issue?
    3. Tim, thanks for sharing. Both the Bronze and Silver Stars are nice looking medals, simple in design but pleasing to the eye. I have framed the above 2 together and they display really well and they provide me with a reminder of the sacrifices made by the young men of the United States of America. God Bless em! :)
    4. Thanks for that Mike, much appreciated. Like you say it's a pity that you have no more information as to how your Father won his medals but he must have done something very brave to obtain either so that's something to be proud of.
    5. Thanks Mike, can I assume your fathers medals were awarded to him and if so what for? Is there a story you can share with us?
    6. Thought I would share my small collection of US medals. I have already posted a picture of a Bronze and Silver Star on my recent purchases. Left to right top row, European African Middle eastern campaign, WW2 Victory, Bronze Star, Campaign and 45 Army of Occupation. Bottom row, Korean war, Vietnam, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Purple Heart. The last three and the occupation medal are all restrikes or copies? The rest are originals as far as I can tell.
    7. Thanks Tim, I acquired both of these medals from different boot markets and didn't pay that much for them? They are now framed and sat in my spare bedroom on display with my other militaria. I have another frame of US medals which I will take a pic of and post in the US medals section.
    8. Recently acquired these 2. US Bronze Star and Silver Star. I love em both and will more than likely frame them together for display. Enjoy!
    9. Mervyn, glad you like the collection. The MN and the KAR were both refurbed in the Ukraine and when I acquired them were covered in a red brown varnish which I removed using the blunt edge of a dinner knife. Nice and easy does it. Give them a bit of a rub down and restore to former glory. I love em and thanks to you all for your comments, appreciated.
    10. As I've posted my picture of the SMLE, thought I would share with you my other 3 rifles. Top: Soviet 1939 Mosin Nagant with matching numbered bayonet. This rifle has been refurbished in the Ukraine but the stock looks original and all the numbers match. Middle: 1938 Japanese Arisaka. Lovely condition all complete. Just need to find a bayonet and original sling. Bottom: German KAR 98, 1944 DOT. Refurbed and wood is from another 98. A battlefield pick up no doubt? The purists among us would prefer matching serial numbers but there is something to be said for any weapon that has more than likely seen active service in some part(s).
    11. As my SMLE .303 Lee Enfield is dated 1911, I can now assume that it is no longer a collectable but an "Antique", deactivated of course. Doubt if I there will be a telegram from the Queen though?. Happy New Year to you all.
    12. Thanks guys for your input and I bow to your superior knowledge. Thats the good thing about this site is that you can show the items you have and discuss the good, the bad and the downright ugly?
    13. Thanks for that information but please explain your above comment?
    14. Bought this Soviet Naval cap or should that be hat from a recent militaria show. Not a great fan of modern militaria but thought this looked great and displays really well. I have been told this is from Black Sea Navy but I cannot confirm?
    15. Love the display. I need to get a mannequin for my Viet Cong uniform and accessories. The AK is Soviet dated 1963. I also have a collection of flags and banners etc. VC and NVA stuff is quite affordable at present so keep up the collection. Cheers
