    13. Updated (i now have the last, missing page - so the document set is complete:)) - 4 order of lenins: probably around serial nr 400.000 plus or minus 1.000 - 2.000 - 16 order of october revolution: ??? TBD ??? - 35 order of red banner: probably around serial nr 560.000 plus or minus 10.000 - 145 order of red star (serial nr range from 3.700.000 to 3.700.144) - 199 combat service medals: unnumbered
    14. Yep, difficult but at least useful for a reference / bullshit check (although one can never be sure... and a soviet award coming out of mongolia with a number i'd think would always be worth a bet with research:)) Got my echoes of war out: - 4 order of lenins: probably around serial nr 400.000 plus or minus 1.000 - 2.000 - 16 order of october revolution: ??? TBD ??? - 35 order of red banner: probably around serial nr 560.000 plus or minus 10.000 - 145 order of red star (serial nr range from 3.700.000 to 3.700.144) - 193 (163 confirmed + probably roughly 30 from a missing page) combat service medals: unnumbered
    15. http://vienna-pyongyang.blogspot.com/2008/09/khabarovsk-khasan-border-russiadprk.html reverse border crossing... everythings been done before of course!
    16. I am planning to travel to DPRK next year and tour the country. Intention is to enter via train from Beijing and exit (via train or car) directly into Russia in the north east corner. This would allow me to visit the Khasan battle site and travel onwards to Vladivostok. Has anybody visited Khasan? Is there anything to see there related to the battle? Wikipedia indicates the village has 700 people living there so I guess I shouldn't be expectinng too much Only thing I've found so far is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Khasan_Memorial.jpg
    17. UPDATE - 4 order of lenins - 16 order of october revolution - 35 order of red banner - 145 order of red star (serial nr range from 3.700.000 to 3.700.144) - 193 (163 confirmed + probably roughly 30 from a missing page) combat medals Will attempt to put serial nr estimations behind the non red stars later today.
    18. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39929&st=0 In the Mongolia section there's a thread about a documented group (well, a group of documents, no awards) for Mongolian General Suurin Baldan incl. several rare Soviet medals to foreigners and a numbered Red Star. Research in the archives has generated a document containing all 1971 mass awardings of awards to Mongolians. With the known examples of Red Stars here on GMIC, the range for Soviet Red Stars awarded to Mongolians around 1971 is narrowed to 3700000 to 3700144 . Question: given that range and timing of Red Star awards, what would ROUGHLY be the numbering for other soviet awards awarded around the same timing? This could be of help to confirm Soviet awards found in Mongolia were awarded to Mongolians. Referring here specifically to the awards mentioned in the archive documents: - Order of Lenin - Order of October Revolution - Order of Red Banner - Combat Medal Thanks, Bob
    19. So... would be cool if some of the Soviet collector friends could relate the Red Star numbers for Mongolians to (based on same timing) approximate guesstimated numbers for the OTHER awards to Mongolians. That way, at least we narrow it down a bit in case we see non - Red Star soviet awards claimed to be for Mongolians around 1971.
