    1. A small surge in boxed awards recently incl. the - presumably - original cardboard boxes. On Pumbark's website you can see an unissued Order of Red Banner neatly tucked into it's cardboard box for instance.
    2. Aha, yes forgot about those:) Background of my question is twofold, curiosity and my interest in buying my first Lenin but preferably then a multiple Lenin group. Double Lenin awardee groups appear to be rare but available... I was curious to see how much more rare 3x, 4x etc groups would be.
    3. So several hundreds of thousand OoL's have been awarded... but is there any reasonably accurate information on the number of "double awardees" (as well as triple, quadruple, etc.)? Also, out of curiosity, why is the Order of Red Banner the only one with an indicator on it designating multiple awardings?
    4. Some interesting points: The medal "We Won" appears to have switched in the mid 20K zone (early 90's) into a long term commemorative medal. The medal "40 years of MPR" has one of the most compact award date range seen in any award. Ed - can you unravel below... I may have confused names and put them in wrong buckets: Medal for Meritorious Service in Battle 391 11/09/1953 Order for Meritorious Service in Battle 14 06/07/1946 Order of Combat Red Banner 603 27/11/1958

    7. Well - I barely posted this, and I got an email:) Now for 2-3 more months of waiting...
    8. I've for the first time sent a mail out requesting research but haven't heard back. Is waiting a few weeks normal? Thanks
    9. You don't see these very often (ever seen a "Meritorious Agricultural Ameliorator of the USSR"?) yet they are very nice. Here's my recently acquired People's Teacher of the USSR. 14.1gr, double LMD mintmark. No serial number on reverse unfortunately. Unfortunately, because so little is seen / heard / known of these... it's not always easy to (once you find one) determine whether it's genuine or not.
    10. Looks like it's time for me to do some "integration" work again:) Keep 'm coming Ed! The only risk with more datapoints is... more unexplained deviations from our perceived logic!
    11. I agree, getting more Russians here would be great (and fun!). Wouldn't mind getting some Russians with Mongolia collections here either (in Georgia, I actually met a fellow Mongolia collector in Tbilisi!). I'd suggest that anybody who feels that Igor is asking too much: - shouldn't buy from him - and / or buy similar items and offer them for sale themselves to make some $$$ Igor is providing a service and nobody is forced to pay for it. Besides, I personally find the quality of service very good (have purchased a few items from CR on occasions where I felt I would probably not be able to get a certain badly wanted part of my collection via other sources). And finally, he's got a great website to drool over!
    12. Perhaps one can be rich AND be a research-loving collector... not all "rich" people are "evil"
    13. as many as possible - saw your pics but perhaps USAF can also add a scan?
    14. Keep in mind... the 100 USD starts are not the same (i.e. Goznak / solid gold) as the 1000 USD stars! Also, the gold gold stars are obviously less easily available (though easily found after some good detective work... and then definately not for 1000 - 1600 EURO as some dealers are asking! Yes, I believe that a load of items has left the state vault shall we say. Unrewarded but still nice items of course.
    15. Here pic of a huge document. Unfortunately not a number on the doc which could be used to tie it back to the badge. Didn't fit on the scanner and I was lazy. Now updated with interior.
    16. Albania certainly didn't economize on their award documents! Big, high quality, nice detail.
    17. The state vaults have opened up bringing the price down for these BEAUTIFUL stars. Just in... and love the enamel.
    18. Distinguished in Socialist Stimulation badge and certificate. Notice the badge is produced in Prague (Zhukov?)
    19. Here another red cross badge + FDSH (Albanian Democratic Front) 6TH Congress Badge
    20. To be honest, how do I tell apart silver from nickel? Assuming silver is heavier, I'd say it isn't silver. I am very impressed by the level of detail of this medal... certainly not your typical crude Albanian stuff. I think what you are seeing in Albania is a bit like in some other places, the bank vaults opening up. Will post a gold partisan star (real gold that is, made in USSR!). I've been "hinted at" that soon some Laureat of Albania awards will be coming available as well... Let us wait and see
    21. Notice the difference SELLER 1: few months ago SOLD ORDER OF THE RED BANNER OF MILITARY VALOR 2nd AWARD BOXED Battushig A 22.2, 1940-1945. Made of silver, gilt and enamels. S/n is 56, four rivets. Great near mint condition with light patina, flawless enamel. Comes with a presentation box, lightly worn. PRICE 3,950.00 [pix1] [pix2] SELLER 2 (or 3): current price Order of the Red Banner for Military Valor, 2nd award, 1940 type, #56, 1941-1945. Comes with an old issue box, possibly original to the award. Silver gilt, enamels, numbered. 50.3 mm tall. The reverse shows Soviet mint mark. Exceptional quality, even if compared to Soviet decoration of the same period. Extraordinary, near mint condition. Perfect enamel and completely intact gold plating. The rifle and sword are solidly affixed and are not bent as is often the case on the "first award" Orders of the Red Banner of 1940 type. Original silver screw plate is included. Includes an issue box, standard for Mongolian orders, possibly original to the award or of slightly later vintage. Similar to Soviet order issue boxes, it is wrapped in red oilcloth, with padded lid having silk liner, and plywood insert wrapped in paper and silk for mounting the award. This order was issued during WW2 as a consequent award to a person who had already been awarded with a single Combat Red Banner. This would have to be one of the highest ranking Mongolian and Soviet military officers. Most of the 1940-45 issues were later replaced with the 1945 model, which explains the extreme scarcity of this award. As an example, many early photos of Marshal Zhukov show him with two Mongolian Red Banners of the 1940 type, whereas his photos and portraits from mid 1950s and later invariably have him wearing the 1945 model. Few of the 1940 Red Banner 4th award have come on the market over the last few years (most of them were probably unissued specimens), however this 2nd award is the only one we've ever handled. /See A. Battushig, "Mongolian Orders, Medals & Badges" p. 48, fig. A22.2/ $11,500.00
    22. Nice set of awards... any one of us would have gotten them as well if we would be married to the Dutch royal family. THe question is, what did Bernhard do to EARN these awards? Besides: - driving around France in his jeep with body guards? - collecting money under the table from Lockheed - etc. As you can guess, I am - although Dutch - not a monarchist.
    23. That is an interesting screw on it. I would be surprised if it is the original one.
