    1. Thanks for sharing and showing the reverse with the label. That's most interesting.
    2. Thank you so very much. I wasn't aware of these, and now that I am, I'll certainly get a copy of each volume. I sincerely appreciate your sharing this. All the best,
    3. Hello, It's interesting that so few of them were awarded. Where did you get the number? Is there a book or site that gives how many of the EK equivalent medals were awarded by state? That would be most interesting. Thank you in advance for shedding any light on this. Best regards,
    4. Thank you again. I'll do my best and for 20E, it will be a good deal if I can get some info. Ciao,
    5. Hi Naxos, Yes, I found the same but although the birthdate is the same, the death date is incorrect as I know for a fact from letters written by the CO to his fiance etc. that he was KIA on Friday 13 March '42 in Russia. Could it be that he was reinterred on 2 Jan. 1945? If so, was it common that to repatriate bodies? I'm thinking this may be a different Hienrich Remark because of the exceptional ability of the Germans to keep good records. What do you think? One of the letters was written by Graf von Obendorff (RK) and it confirms his death date. Any ideas towards understanding this would be greatly appreciated. By the way, how long would it take to get his official records if possible? Thanks again. You've been a great help.
    6. Thank you Naxos for this information. It's really helpful. I used Google Earth to luck up this area and see where the units were and it was most interesting. Thanks for the links; they're very helpful too. All the best,
    7. Thank you for this information. I sincerely appreciate it. Could you please tell me the best translatin of A.A. as in AA 34? Is it an intelligence unit? Thanks again!
    8. I'm researching two brothers and would be grateful for any information on the following: 1. Lt. Heinrich Remark KIA 13 March 1942 in the village of Gorbatschi in Russia. He served with the 1. Jnfanterie-Regiment 253 Heinrich was awarded the EK 2 on 22 June 1940, the EK 1 on 20 August 1941 and the Infantry Assult Badge in Silver on 11 November 1941. Two of the documents were signed by a Major Graf von Oberndorff. 2. Capt. and Battalion Surgeon Joseph Remark. I don't know if Joseph received any awards or decorations. 3. Major Graf von Oberndorff 4. 1 Jinfanterie-Regiment 253 Any and all information, leads/links or suggestions on finding out more about the brothers and what the 253 Inf. Regt. did would be greatly appreciated. All the best,
    9. I've bought many items from Marko and at first I was concerned because of a lack of communications, but since have found out that he has a job, goes to shows and is a very busy man. I firmly believe he is as honest as the day is long as I've always received everything in good condition. Once when the package was late due to bad weather, he said if it didn't arrive he would refund my money. It arrived. I personally like and trust Marko and would recommend him to all collectors. He will take PayPal too, but you have to write him about it. I hope one day to meet him and take him for a drink.
    10. All of you were/are right. Everything worked out and I suspect the delay was due to the fact that Marko used regular German Post as opposed to FedEx. I look forward to doing business with him again. Thanks to all of you! Happy New Year!
    11. I hope all of you are correct. I ordered something from him two weeks ago and it hasn't arrived. I emailed him and asked him to check on it and there have been no responses. I usually get orders from Kai Winkler or Helmut Weitz in two or possibly three days. I certainly won't be recommending him to anyone in light of this transaction.
    12. Well, you're right. I know you're not tooting your own horn, but you are right. I've only got a couple of items from you, but they are just as you described and not leaving my collection! Cheers,
    13. Thanks Paul. I appreciate the insight. Do you think there are differences in collecting when it comes to other cultures;i.e., Germans, Russians, etc.? I've only just started collecting Japanese medals and find the bars most attractive. I've always found that to be the same with German medals too; perhaps it's due to the fact that they're unnamed for the most part and so I looik to find some sort of tangible connection with the original recipient. Having collected British medals for over 30 years, it's easy to make that connection as they're named (for the most part) and so easy to research. As someone who has obviously traveled extensively and has an etensively knowledge of medal collecting, it would be an interesting turn for this strand to know what people have recognized as cultural collecting traits, if any. Perhaps there are collectors elsewhere who only want relics as opposed to pristine examples or singles as oppossed to groups. The "menu" for collectors is quite long a varied, but I suspect there may be generalizations that are made vis-a-vis cultures and/or nationalities. PS: After all is said and done, I've paid more for a boxed or cased St. Helene than I would have for a couple of St. Helenes by themselves so know the feeling.
    14. Do you know why the person would have had the War Aid Cross mounted with the reverse forward. I've seen this a few times and have always wondered why? Thanks in advance for any help in understanding this. All the best and Happy New Year!
    15. Would it not sell in Japan because they prefer only pristine items? Personally, I like items that were worn and/or used by the soldier, sailor or airman. It's a matter of taste, but an medal or insignia that is was unissued and sat on a shelf is less interesting to me than one that has that "was-there" look about it. On the other hand, I'll be the first to admit that I always look at condtion and rarity in conjunction to the history. In short, do you think there are "cultural" differences in collecting militaria? In general, do the Japanese only want perfect single medals that are cased? Have never been fortunate enough to visit Japan, it would be interesting to know what you think. Cheers and happy New Year to everyone!
    16. Would it be possible for you to post a list of this man's "traits" along with photos of his work so that us punters can be better armed in the mine field of parade mounted bars. Tom has helped to eductate me enormously and has been a consumate professional educator and collector for my fledgling collection of WWI TR parade mounted bars. (Yes, I was stung but fortunately all of the dealers refunded my money to the last penny!) At any rate, I'm ignorant when it comes to Imperial bars and would appreciate any and all info you could share. Thanks in advance and happy holidays to all!
    17. Very nice and interesting. Perhaps you could write something up for the Orders and Medals Society of America or the Orders and Medals Research Society. I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
    18. I was there when the Saudis adopted the chocolate-chip style and it was during Gulf War I. Prior to that, they wore a grey colored one. I left in '95 and they had switched over to a new one without the chocolate chips. Although the cut was the same, the camo resembled something between the US and the UK's camo colors. FYI, the French had their own style, which was different too. Hope this helps.
    19. Hi Jacques, I tried posting three photos and they don't seem to be visible. I haven't a clue as to why not. Sorry, I'll keep trying.
    20. Here are some photos of the badge and one of the accompanying medals.
