    1. Well... finally reached the big number 10! Here's my latest addition... again a bit of damage but one never knows the interesting stories that may lie hidden there. It's definitely been there and done that. If only they could talk... but as soon as I start to dive into researching I'm hoping it will.
    2. My latest... a railway college diploma issued to locomotive technician Kononenko Dmitriy Petrovich on March 29, 1965.
    3. Just came on a couple of these... hoping to get the second class at some point to finish the set. Dan
    4. Hi Charles, Many thanks my friend! I was hoping this was still the case as when I read through the "big" thread I believe that was the comment you'd made back then as well. I know Gordon showed one of the 1959's as a cased set but no 69's. Hoping against hope for the 59 now. Will post it if I get it. And again many congratulations on your book! I can't wait to get a copy!!!! Dan
    5. Hi all, Well, it's been quite a few months since I've had anything new to add here but just come on this one. Been wanting one for ages and now only need the 1959 to finish the set: I love the design on this one. Dan
    6. Hi Rick, Sorry for the delayed reply on my part. Been up to my ears and beyond. Many thanks for the info and translation. Hoping to learn more about it over time... although from what I've seen there seem to be a whole range of these types of "Honored" or similar type awards. One could almost specialize in nothing but these and have a huge collection with all the variations, etc. I don't think it would be possible to run out of pieces to collect. Dan
    7. Thanks for the additional info Uwe. But that's certainly a confusing way for them to have done it... what with nearly everything else they or the TR, etc., ever did being in either bronze, silver and gold or black, silver and gold. Anything to throw a monkey wrench into the works I guess. Oh well... live and learn. Dan
    8. Hi Grant, Great additions to your collection my friend! This one is the Honor Pin for Merit in the Socialist Education Program. There is also a bronze and a gold grade. You can see my gold example which is also cased here on post #16: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8727&st=0 Hope this helps out. Keep up the great work! Dan
    9. Hi all, I need a couple of lengths of Soviet Bravery (Valor) medal ribbon if anyone has any they can spare. Will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks! Dan
    10. Hi all, Not positive if that's the correct title but that's what the seller called it. Any additional information would be deeply appreciated. Dan
    11. Hi Rick, Wow... it's not often I can find something that you've not seen before. I'm honored! I'd not seen any either and I just could not resist... she's a beaut! No idea on markings... I'll try and ask if I can but if nothing else I'll check it out thoroughly when it arrives. But it's coming from Israel (should be shipping out tomorrow) and I'm guessing will be a couple of weeks... but one never knows. It's coming with my latest ORS. Hoping you'll check that out... but from what I found in the green bible I'm guessing it's a 1953 long service. Anyhow I'll keep you posted on this one for sure. Dan
    12. My latest addition to the ribbon collection. A plastic backing with plastic protected ribbons. I couldn't pass it up! Pics are the sellers (Vladimir Shifrin in Israel). This is my first of this type and to be honest I can't remember seeing others like it although I'm sure they're out there. As always opinions are most welcome. Dan
    13. Thanks Rick! I've definitely got to start getting my stuff researched soon. Hopefully after Christmas I can jump into the deep end of the pool. Well, I just came by another one. Serial number 3105987. Does this one fall into the 1953 long service awards? Sadly with some enamel damage but the price was right and I do love the underdogs! And they also seem to have some of the most interesting stories behind them. Pictures are from the seller (Vladimir Shifrin in Israel). So it'll probably be a bit before I have it in hand. Number 9 and counting! Dan
    14. Sorry for the delay in getting this. Been out of state and out of town and only now getting caught up on computer work. Anyhow hope this does the trick. Dan
    15. Any ideas on the date range this one would fall into? Using the green bible I'm thinking 1944/45 range? But hoping one of you can perhaps narrow things down a bit. Also is this a good candidate for research? Will keep my fingers crossed. Dan
    16. Hi Ferdinand. Whew! So glad it's good! I was 99% positive but there was just that little nagging doubt. So good to have it confirmed! Thanks so much for setting my mind at ease on this one. Dan
    17. Well that's it. Hope I'm right and it's okay and I did alright on this one. Dan
    18. Try as I might I couldn't get the mint mark any clearer than this with the scanner.
    19. The toning from where the screwback covered the back also looks correct.
