    1. This is the one I had in my Richthofen bar. I have a better one at home of the single medal obverse and reverse.
    2. I had one of these once and will posts pictures when I get home. I'm curious too. I would think it should be silver, I don't think mine was and mine didn't have a cut out crown. If I was a betting man, I'd think the one I had wasn't an issue piece, put a copy of some sort.
    3. I posted this in Cinema too, but the folks I want to direct this to are in this forum for the most part. I just watched from Netflixs a 1928 silent movie directed by the great John Ford called "Four Sons". BAsic story line is a Bavarian mother has 4 sons 3 fight in WWI for the kaiser, one in the USA. I'd be curious about the authenticity of the uniforms, medals etc. Later in the movie the bad Major is sporting a PLM, earlier I think its a Johanitor neck order. Certainly not a current repo! The USA troops are wearing the insignia of the Rainbow Divison. Give it a look. Not a bad film and when was the last time you watched a silent movie! For extra credit see if you can spot the great John Wayne in an uncredited roll as an Officer. As a hint the only officers are German ones. To further add curiousity about authenticity of uniforms, etc. Check out this photo I lifted from Getty Images taken on the set. It shows: circa 1927: From left to right, Captain Lauterbach (I think SMS Emden fame), Archduke Leopold of Austria (appearing as an extra in the film), Count Felix von Luckner (Another Great Imperial Officer) and John Ford, on the set of 'Four Sons, directed by Ford for the Fox Film Corporation, adapted from the novel 'Grandma Bernle Learns Her Letters' by I A R Wylie. 4. They must be. They sent me photocopies of the pages. They looked exactly in the same format as the military ranglists, same descriptions, Icons, etc. Difference was it said Oberpostdirektor, etc. I wish I had kept the info but I included it all with a group I sold. I seem to recall I did this online at the webpage for the Bundes post. Dan
    5. I actualy send a question to the Deutsches Bundes Post once and they have great ranglists just like the military. They sent copies of the OberpostdireKtors info. It could be a valuable resource if needed. I think I just asked the question on line at their site. Dan
    6. I have been a regular watcher/contributor of this forum for a long time. It seems to me it has gotten boring of late. It appears everyhthing been collected and identified? What happened to Rick? Did he get sucked into a Massachusettes black hole or something? I miss the random medal bas and the IDs of who they belonged to. It always amazed me. Rick hope you're well. Dan in Montana
    7. I think that is a total fake, not a US manufacture piece. The pad with the stars looks totally worn out. I have been seeing these recently on Germany Ebay along with an Army varient. The Army one is total fake. On a hijaked note, maybe President Obama will repeal the Stolen Valor act since he so loathes the military and we can again collect our nations highest decorations in peace.
    8. Some other info I found. Nothing about Lippe. Here are some details on Lammers' life and career (sources include several SS-Dienstalterlisten and his SS personnel file on microfilm at the National Archives II, College Park, Maryland). Lammers, Bormann, and Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel comprised a "committee of three" through which all orders signed by Hitler had to pass before they were cleared. Lammers was to become the object of Bormann's intrigues, however, and when he played a role in the telegram from Göring (23. Apr. 1945) informing Hitler that the Reichsmarschall was taking control of Germany, he was ordered arrested.
    9. Just a thought, The photo with the Lippe decoration has to have been taken before the other ones based upon the collar insignia. Is it a certainty the man with the Lippe Medal is Lammers and not someone else who looks similar? Just curious and perhap[s I am 100% out to lunch.
    10. All of the HOHwX I have had that were period pieces all said IANUAR instead of JANUAR. I had a bronxe HOHX that said JANUAR. Don't know it its important or not. Also all of the ones that said IANUAR were also marked by the maker; ie JG&S, FR, W, etc. and 935
    11. I found it on Wikipedia. Heres the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_living_Knight%E2%80%99s_Cross_recipients Summary: Golden Oaks Swords Diamonds: 0 (last and only Rudel) Oaks Swords Diamonds: 0 (Last was Galland) Oaks Swords: 3 Oaks: 24 KC: 43 (list may be incomplete
    12. Does anyone know the count of still living RK recipients? I'm sure it is getting down there.
    13. I don't understand the coloring of the Oldenburg FA II. Is that like a non combat ribbon?
    14. They have a nice, albeit small display for decorations from Hollenzollern-Sigmaringen at Schloss Hohenzollern in Sigmaringen. (I would have remembered that medal bar! ) Just down the road in Hechingen is Burg Hohenzollern. They have some awesome medals there in the treasury to view from the Kaiser's line. Well worth a trip in both cases. Since they are off the beaten USA tourist path, brush up on your German. Side note: Rick will you be attending the service of your fine Senator?
    15. I think thank Golden Military Merit cross is a $2.00 Gode piece. I had one once. Note how the suspension is "twisted". Mine was exactly like that. More "original" or period Spange pieces have a more professional looking suspension piece. I think this is one of the most expensive 1914 EK2s ever sold!
